I wish MMP and GMT, despite the latter heavily discounting their shipping, would consider trying a fulfilment solution for sending out their EU pre-orders - will be waiting for retail as usual.

I think he is referring to the fact that old AH counters used to have these annoying side-nubs and new counters from MMP doesn't. In addition to that, new counters also have better colors and bigger graphics.

Ordered!

Does anybody know why 2nd edition Yanks has 6 countersheets instead of five like the 1st edition? At first I was thinking that maybe 2nd edition will include the counters from the Paratrooper module, but those counters always seemed basically unnecessary if you already owned Yanks and BV.

Thoughts?

Exactly.

I made sure I had all of the official Avalon Hill ASL products the moment I first found out that they were being sold to Hasbro... and all of those have side attachment points on at least the 5/8" counters. I never punched any of them past Paratrooper and some Beyond Valor because I just never fully learned the rules.

Then when the Starter Kits came out I got back into ASL and after seeing how much better the counters are now I've been eagerly awaiting each republished module simply because I hate those side nibs so much. Only the Italians and French left to go now. (Or after this gets actually published, anyway.)

Come to think of it, I believe this will also be the first time several (all?) of these boards have ever been made available in the "Starter Kit" style outside of the map bundle. (Edit: Well, or individually purchased. At five dollars each for individual boards, it isn't worth buying the module just for the maps, but it's over 40% of the preorder price.)

I didn't like the SK style maps at first, but when I realized just how much more portable they are I started warming up to them.

Yanks2 was an auto buy for me as well. Will add the SK style boards to the ones from the other new modules I have bought and replace the old scenarios with the updated ones. Then I'll carefully stack the unpunched new counter sheets as backup with all the other new module counter sheets and the map pack that I have as backup (which makes me feel so nice and cozy and safe). Then I'll go on using the old Avalon Hill counters until some point where I guess I'm feeling they have worn out, which may not be in my lifetime. Oh yea, MMP has got me all right.

I sold my old AH copy of Yanks about 18 mths ago - I wanted the better printed counters and consistent SK style map boards. Looks like I will end up having made a profit after buying the new Yanks - although I have had 18 months of having to use SK counters and the occasional AFV proxy when playing US scenarios - and incurred the risk that this may have taken longer to turn up.

It is a must buy also for me, but due to shipping cost and custom, i too will wait for retailer's . Sorry if i not preorder, but ship+custom are more than game itself. And strangely, in the shop the price is the same as non preorders

I preordered The Greatest Day and it was a horror show between the shipping costs and customs - though in the end I'm glad I picked it up because I'm really enjoying it. But I think I'll pass on this one as I have the old Yanks as well as Paratrooper and the cost with shipping and customs is just too high. Shipping is going to way heavily with games I'm just not 100 percent sold on acquiring.
