1975 World Series Replay
Cincinnati Reds vs. Boston Red Sox
Game 2

Game 2 of this series saw Sparky Anderson's Reds tie the series up at a game apiece by downing Darrell Johnson's Red Sox 4 to 2 through the crafty and masterful pitching of plus first liner righty Gary Nolan. Nolan went 8 and 1/3 innings giving up 8 hits and a stingy 2 earned runs as he baffled the Red Sox batters during his time on the mound for the win. Nolan was spot-on accurate and in full command as he accumulated 11 strike outs against just 1 walk. On the other side of the ledger it was plus first liner righty Rick Wise going 6 of 7 well pitched innings yielding 4 strike outs and 1 base on balls as the Reds scored all of their 4 runs in their half of the third on 5 singles apiece by Geronimo, Flynn, Morgan, Griffey Sr. and Mr. Baseball, Pete Rose, with the offensive highlight being a double steal of third and second as the Reds runners (Geronimo and Flynn) caught the BoSox defense flat footed and it was HoF Joe Morgan driving in both of these base runners with his base hit contribution. At long last the BoSox finally recovered as they pulled some magic of their own with a strike out-throw out DP to stop the bleeding whistle. Hitting stars for the Reds were Doug Flynn who reached base 3 times on a single, a double and a walk and Joe Morgan who drove in 2 runs. Hitting stars for the Red Sox were HoF OF Carl Yastremski who DHed and reached three times on an RBI double, a single and a walk and Denny Doyle who was 2 for 5 for the evening.

The series now moves to Cincinnati for games 3, 4 and 5.cool

Did you know that Bernie Carbo was drafted the same year as Johnny Bench but higher? He had a terrific series that year but he's being used as utility by me and did not get a hit in a pinch hit attempt. As long as you're not an in-law, I'll think about it.ninja
