What do you think about drafting the command deck instead of drawing randomly?
I think at that point it's not the same game. The success of the 4 Commands & Colors variants is beyond question and each of them uses the exact same system. Borg did it right. BattleLore is perhaps even less random in that you have the addition of a Lore deck as well as collecting lore on your rolls. The use of Lore can very often counter-act an opponent who has a run of command cards better suited to his set-up. As an example, there is a card that webs a unit, moving it back and restricting it from attacking. There are several that reduce the attackers dice and at least one that allows you to attack first.
