DEUS is a great Two Player game.
After a 100+ sessions we can recommend these house rules :

4 tiles with the hole in the middle as shown on the back of the rules.

The two spaces in front of the players are the starting points.

Every player have only three handcards. Those three you have always.
If you can draw, for example 4 cards due to a yellow card, take 5 to your hand ( there are 7 now ) and discard till you hold 3 again.

In a turn a player can :

1. Play a card and set a building. After that draw a new card.
so you have three again.

2. Sacrifice all three cards ! it´s not allowed to sacrifice one or two.

In short : you play a card or discard/sacrifice all !!

So the sacrifice rules are like that :

Blue card : you get a building and 3 Gold
Green Card : you get an building and 3 resources
Yellow card : you get a building, you draw 4 cards decide for three
and take one back to the discard pile. So you have a card more than usually to choose from( that´s 33 % ).
brown card : a building and one VP
red card : one military building
violett card: one building of your choice

So you have not so many cards and not so many gold. This works great in a two player game.

No new starting point somewhere on the board through payment of three
VP´s.

It is not allowed to cross through/over barbarian villages or occupied
spaces of the opponent. So, what is important in a two player game, you
can really block the other player. In case of that you have to sort out
the temporary camps. In a two player session with blocking to go 4 regions is too much. If you don´t want to sort it out treat it like elephants( 2 regions).

In a two player game we play with an third ending besides all 4 temples build or every village emptied. Game ends when the talon of cards are
empty. If the start player draw the last card/s the other have one turn.
Every player shows the same amount of turns.

We played this rules a damn lot now and it works great in a two player
setting. With more players it don´t work very well.

Endscores are usually around 30 - 40 points. But we managed in lucky
games 55 also.

Best to all your boardgamers

Sounds interesting, I might want to try that!

How does sacrificing cards work exactly? Do you get the bonus for each of the three cards you sacrifice? Or do you just choose one of the three you get the bonus for?

It's neat that you invented a new game with deus's components . . . but that's what that is.

I don't think posting variants in the variant forum should be frowned upon.

Hallo Marco,

Gruss
