I know with GMT it's about reaching enough orders to commit to a reprint and perhaps this is an unanswerable question, but how much longer until it reaches the magic number 500. I've got a serious case of AD for this one and have already added my order. Just wondering how long I should expect to wait until this gem hits my table.

You don't really want to know.
Best case might be 6 months to a year...just a guess.

I can live with 6+ months. Over a year would be rough.

Unconditional Surrender I think is a tweener - sold out by GMT (good), but not quite quick enough to be an instant reprint (as Churchill will be). It might be a while. If you're really interested (and you should be, it's a good game), you might want to look at used copies.

The BGG Marketplace is also a good place to look. I've bought and sold many a game there.

Seconding the marketplace. I ordered it from GMT but it had just sold out. Got on the marketplace right away and snagged one still in shrink. Might be some out there still that way, but with trades I've had great luck with used copies.

I looked there and $100+ in shrink is a bit rich for my blood. Can anyone suggest another game that will scratch that itch while I wait for my GMT order?

Supreme Commander came out at almost the exact same time and had the same scope.

Some people like The War https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/67084/war-europe-1939-19...

If you can get past the mediocre rulebook (some can, I can not), I think it is a decent enough game. Very complicated though.

Or you can play the older Axis Empires: Totaler Krieg, also by Vasta (partially): https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/32989/axis-empires-total...
This is a favorite of mine.

What about Axis and Allies Europe & Pacific 1940 games? Or combining them both for the complete WWII theater.
