SO MANY HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!

I CANT FIGURE OUT WERE THEY ALL GO!!!!!!!!!

This seems excessive, why are they all separate, this seems unnecessary.

Then don't put them on. I really didn't think they were that bad personally. I have had model kits with a lot more fiddly peaces in them.

This thread can be helpful

Phoenix Assembly

Although there seems to be differing ways on the thread and I think I had problems with small hands here and there. Most likely no matter what, you'll get to the end and you'll have at least one or two hands that don't seem right.

It wasn't done to deliberately make the model difficult to assemble. It was done because, due to the limitations of hard plastic production, the pieces have to be split so that there are zero "undercuts"

The game is hard, the setting is brutal, the box breaks your back, and the price tag kills your wallet. Why would assembly be any different?

I originally thought the 30 hands were additional for kitting out survivors. Finished the Phoenix and thought, "that wasn't so bad, why is everyone complaining on the forums". Then I searched the forums and found out those 30 hands were part of the model.. Facepalm.gif

Luckily that guide that was linked made it doable, otherwise I would have just left the hands off.

I don't know much about how sprues are created, but it seems like the wings could have just been molded with the hands already on. I'm sure there's a good reason why it wasn't done that way though.

I'm pretty sure 20% of my Phoenix hands are in the wrong place, upside-down and backwards but...WHO CARES. Just plug them in and squint. Welcome to KDM.

For the lack of a better term, the less 'little pokey things' coming out of a model, the better. Every time you have one, you need to make sure the plastic can fill the void properly without causing air pockets. This gets extremely difficult when things are pointing every direction. Solution: Make it a recess and create a separate hand mold that the hobbyist can glue in.
