GOOD LUCK (Hunter Event Card) wrote:
Play during day.

Resolve 1 of the following:

* Remove 1 roadblock token from the board.
* Discard Dracula's current ally.
* Cancel a "False Tip" event card.
Do you think playing that counts as the hunter's action for the day (a 'Special' action)? Or is it just an additional effect that can be played any time during the day?

We played the latter, since some other hunter events mentioned taking an "action" (either additionally, or when usually one couldn't be performed), whereas this card doesn't even use the word "action".

Thanks!

I agree with your interpretation -- since the card does not specify that it requires an action, a hunter may play it and still perform an action.

It is an additional effect that can be played when appropriate.

Unless a card says it is played as an action, it does not require one. This one doesn't require an action.

Note that the third option is a reaction to a card play by Dracula, so you will never have an action available when you play the card for that effect.

Ah, that settles it then, thanks muchly

We haven't had that event card come up yet, but reading it now, that in itself is played in reaction to spending a ticket token, so of course the hunter will have already used their action.

There's certainly a lot of deduction involved in sussing out these rules... maybe it's training for the deductive powers needed to play the hunters!

Thanks all!

Since it's not a "Play Immediatly" event, Wouldn't the hunter use his Special action to resolve the event?

Learn to play rulebook p. 7
Special Action
When a hunter performs a special action, he resolves either
an effect from an event card in his hand or an ability from his
character sheet that specifies that it can be used as an action.

Emphasis mine. Event cards are played as interrupts. They all have timing and other requirements printed on the card.

Some of them have to be played immediately. Others can be kept in a player's hand and played later at a specified time. Furthermore some require the use of an action, which are played as a Special Action.

Edit (justification):
Rules Reference wrote:

Each event card provides timing text that describes when the

Some event cards require an action to play. To play these event
cards, a hunter must perform an event action during either day
or night.
