In addition to Rising Sun, I obviously have BV. Also have FKaC (can't wait for Yanks! next year) and the Americans in ASLSK#1.

I played this one on Saturday and it's really a great design! A very good scenario!

I recommend J12 - Jungle Fighters, which the name notwithstanding, takes place on urban board 45. This means you only have the Japanese characteristics to worry about and not the Pacific terrain rules.

Thank you for all the suggestions, but note I only have the modules I listed and no other scenarios except the ones that MMP publishes for free.

Hence my suggestion, which is a slight reworking of the version in the Annual.

I think Jungle Fighters is an ideal intro to the Japanese, so it's a bit disappointing it wasn't reprinted for Rising Sun. Although I suspect the fact that it uses board 45 ruled it out in any case.

I've helped a couple of new players break into the PTO and I think the best plan is to play a couple of scenarios with the Japanese that do not use PTO terrain. That way you can learn the many unique features of playing the Japanese without also being burdened with a ton of new terrain types.

A quick look at the Rising Sun scenarios shows that 145 and 146 both feature the Japanese vs the Chinese on standard terrain. These might be ideal if you or your opponent have access to the maps that are required.

Shanghai in Flames (A111; also in Rising Sun)

No PTO terrain. Urban fight. Lets you gt your head around the Japanese first while playing terrain you already know. Then move to a recommended scenario with PTO terrain to complete the process.
