After watching a youtube video on this setup I wondered what the bgg comunities take was on this build?

Redline Tiel punisher:
You may maintain 2 target locks on the same ship. When you acquire a target lock, you may acquire a second lock on that ship.

Fire control system:
After you perform an attack, you may acquire a target lock on the defender.

Cluster missiles:
Attack [Target Lock]: Spend your Target Lock and discard this card to perform this attack twice. Attack value: 3. Range: 1-2

So - Redline completes a manouver and gains a target lock on a ship range 2 away from him. He actaully gets 2 target locks on this ship due to his ability.

When it is his turn to fire he fires off a cluster missile - spending one of his target locks. He then has a target lock remaining to use with this attack. Now - when does fire control system trigger? Is it after rolling dice - meaning he would gain ANOTHER target lock to use with the second dice roll - or is it after rolling both sets of dice?

Also can you use fire control system more than once a turn? Could redline, target lock (twice), fire off cluster missiles, use target lock to modify the first set of dice, gain two target locks due to FCS and redlines ability, use one target lock on the second dice roll of the clusters, and gain an aditional target lock (bringing him back up to 2) and keeo them until the next turn?

If so it seems pretty powerfulbecause extra munitions would allow you to do exactly the same thing again next turn but have a focus token as well!

Yes.

Yes. But he's also pretty expensive (e.g. Redline + 2x Cluster Missiles + Extra Munitions + Fire Control System is 39 points, for which you could get a loaded up Soontir Fel or Darth Vader, and is getting close to Decimator territory), so to get value out of him, you need to make sure he can pull this off at least a couple times before he goes down.

*edited because I priced it for a generic rather than for Redline*

39 points - Redline is 27, plus 8 for 2x Cluster Missiles, 2 for Extra Munitions, 2 for Fire Control System. So, 4 points more than Fel/PTL/Royal Guard/Autothrusters/Stealth Device. And probably significantly easier to kill; you could put autothrusters or stealth device on but not both, and no EPT so no PTL. You could go down to 35 by dropping a set of Cluster Missiles which would probably be fine, which is then equal in price to maximally buffed-up Fel there.

Oops. Fixed.
(I grabbed it from an online squad builder but had the cheapest generic pilot rather than Redline)

I know the temptation with these dreadnought-like ships and extra muni's is to take MORE missiles to amplify the value from the extra munitions token, but all you're really doing is solving the opponent's targeting priority for him.

Also, don't underestimate the ability of Redline to throw out damage with *just* his primary weapon. I rarely take him with more than 1x Cluster, 1x Extra Muni, and 1x FCS.

The best Punisher candidate IMO for loading down is honestly the PS2 pilot with 2X IPM, 1X FCS, and 1X Ion Bomb.
