I downloaded this app to track plays, and it deleted most of the games from my BGG collection. (I had almost 500)
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id988802369

Is there any way my collection data can be restored to before this happened? I'm not sure when it happened, since I've had the app for a few weeks, and I just noticed the problem today.

I see you have 624 games (nearly 1000 with expansions). Are you sure the app isn't just hiding parts of your collection from you?

But when I looked at Caledor's profile, it says only 20 games are owned by him.

This is very strange.... when I look at his page, I see him owning 20 games and 8 expansions.

I even opened his collection to have a look at the actual games, and sure enough there are 20 listed.

Of the collection of nearly 1000 games, only 20 have the owned flag set. I wonder if, on BGG, the owned flag was not set, but the app only pays attention to games with the owned flag. If the collection looks big to you, try going to his profile page and clicking on the Owned number; if it looks small, click on All or access using
Collection from the avatar block.

So, depending on how you usually access your collection on BGG, nothing may have changed. The fix may be to look at the All/
Collection view and start clicking Own flags (in the status column).

It looks like there's still user data for every game. The "own" and "wishlist" fields were cleared. There might be other data that's missing, but I would need to look through them. I found that I can add the date modified column, and that will at least tell me which games I need to fix.

FWIW this is an example of why I'm leery of giving 3rd party apps access rights to accounts I care about (e.g. BGG, or gmail).

Good luck getting it sorted out!
