The problem is actually "White to kill marked stone," although it is weird because it is black's move. Black cannot save the marked stone, if white plays correctly. Like in most go problems, winning or losing is unimportant; the question is, can you achieve the goal that the problem sets out for you.

This is not a game problem in the usual sense. In a game problem, you are asked to find a clever move or sequence of moves. In this, you are asked to make all the obvious moves and see what happens.
