'-': Indicates that it makes the game easier.
'+': Indicates that it makes the game more difficult.
'!': Does not affect difficulty.
'=': Should not affect difficulty.

Adventure

- Re-roll a LOOT! roll if you like. You have to take re-roll value though.
OR
= Roll 2 additional dice of a different color whenever you LOOT! If you choose to use a die result that is higher than the original colored die this turn, then the next time you LOOT! you have to take a lower value result. You may rule it so that you have to take a lower value die prior to taking a higher value die.

- Use the Loot, Level, and Shop system.

! Doesn't change difficulty, but makes the adventure portion more interactive.

Encounter

- Use fudge dice for encounters. Players can use a system that is similar to The Castles of Burgundy, where players can use any die to obtain two fudge dice.

+ Use enemy activation variant.

- If you don't want to fudge your results: After all re-rolls, for every 3 unused dice, set 1 to a result of your choosing. (Inspired/Copied from Tiny Epic Galaxies)

Re: Scaling the difficulty of the game down - Another way to make the game more noob friendly.
or just a simple, viable, and logic solution:

- add an extra hit point, with every level up
- heroism tokens do not get discarded after each battle round
- get an extra reroll, of the dice, with each level up
