Would love it if I was smart enough to know how to do a poll on BGG, but curious what people think is the right value for the opening HM bid, on the very first move of the game.
What's the tipping point? How high do you think it's worth going and what's too high?
Seems to me that the value early on of being able to buy a good at 5 pesos - that might be worth 30 at end of game is extremely valuable. But then again, in addition to your first HM big, you have to buy the good for 5, and still leave yourself money for placing units that round, so you're not cash poor.
My guess is somewhere around 12-15 is the tipping point first round, and even that if you don't make a profit on the first round of the game you could be hurting and need to take a loan, which I've never done. Thoughts?

11-12 pesos. I think that the more critical bid is 2nd Harbor Master bid. Shares are still low and you now have a bit more information about the other players.
