I highly recommend going with this option, instead:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Magic-The-Gathering-Arena-of-the-P...

In store pick-up, and you get the same game Amazon carries but with MOAR stuff, for another few bucks (after tax).

I'm all for bonus material... But this doesn't seem like much to me. Five tiles isn't going to make a big difference, and the rest... Meh.

Maybe if they had an additional planeswalker in there I would be a lot more eager to spend the extra dough.

Yeah, seriously, it's less than $2 more. More than reasonable just for the extra tiles.

I think going to a store that looks like it's populated by characters from a dungeon crawl game is a small price to pay for getting MOAR stuff.

You have to go to Walmart.com bagbag

Walmart.com is actually giving some competition to Amazon. Walmart carries some products that Amazon doesn't, and some products at a lower price. The stuff's shipped to your door, so you don't have to deal with the big box store. Free shipping is available at a higher $50. I also contacted customer service for a rollback reduction in price and the rep was *very* helpful, but he had to contact a supervisor for any reduction over 20%, even if it was only $10.

fwiw, While the miniatures are poor in detail, if you're learning to paint or are just doing a quick paint job, $20 for 35 miniatures is hard to beat.

I wasn't talking about the building of Walmart or the people that go there.

At a small risk of sending this to RSP:

My small family business was almost destroyed by "Walmart's Business Methods" as a kid growing up and another person close to our family literally had his career sold out from under him to Walmart. We were in the bicycle business. They came into one of our wholesalers and essentially said fire that man that has worked for you for 25 years. Then give us the discount of his salary on the next so many 1000 units we buy. We can then sell our bikes at $10 less than our local competition.

In addition they will sell you a bike that is not safe to ride. This isn't a one time I saw this thing happen, but numerous times. I have seen many kids riding unsafe bikes they recently got from Walmart. Examples include, brakes that don't actually work, wheels that aren't bolted on properly, and gears that don't actually change like they are supposed too, tires that are barely inflated and so on. They pay their teenage workers by the bicycle to put them together as fast as they can until they look as if they are ok.

I realize this isn't an issue with the current discussion, but getting a couple extra add-ons isn't worth dealing with that type of seller.

They don't get my money.

I haven't played it yet.. but from what I've read/watched, it's the beginnings of Heroscape 2.0.

The beginning, because it's ok as this is the "base" game... but needs expansions to really flesh it out.

Again, I'm just regurgitating what I read/watched from board game reviewers.

For ~$20, I think this was a definite buy for me. If it stayed at $30, I probably would've passed... because of the possible need for expansions... and for ~$23 for the extras tiles, I went for that.

Magic: Arena is closer to HeroScape, Battle Masters, and HeroQuest. It's player vs. player. Your army vs. their army sorta thing. At $20, it's worth a shot. If you don't like it, give it away to some kid you know.

D&D Adventure Games are coops. Personally, I don't like the system, but bought the games cheap and you can use the mini's and tiles for other games, such as the D&D RPG.
