Hello everybody,

I'd like to welcome all ya'll folks to Texas as you begin preparations for your visits. We're glad to have ya, and hope you enjoy the visit.

As of today (11/11/2015), one week out, our local forecasts are calling for "Texas Cold" weather. High temperatures on Wednesday of next week is listed around 58 degrees (F). That's probably shorts and flip-flop weather for our northern brothers and sisters, but down here that's a bit nippy.

Ya'll might want to remember a jacket. The cold is good for keeping geekstink down, but not so fun when you're standing outside in the opening day registration line.

Rest of next week is forecast to remain "Texas Cold" with lows in mid-upper 40's and highs low-mid 60's. Rain should have already left by Tuesday night, but you never know.

Again, we're looking forward to hosting you all, and travel safe.

We'll see ya at the con.

Thanks for the heads up. I was just checking the weather myself. Being from Houston, I'll need that jacket.

At least there's no current forecast for snow! That was a mess a couple years ago.

Inside the Con can also get chilly, so its a good idea to bring a light jacket or hoodie.

See yall soon!

Re: BGG.CON Geekstink Forecast
This morning's longer-range forecast model suggests great weather for late next week-fair skies and seasonable temperatures with no rain chances. At the 9-10 day range these models aren't skilled at finer-scale events, but they do have some skill in discerning any possible pattern shifts. I'll defer to my brethren/sistren at the Fort Worth NWS office for local guidance as the event draws closer, but right now it looks to be ideal.

Normal temperatures for BGG.CON week in Dallas are mid 60s for highs and mid 40s for lows. As the previous posters suggest, always bring a jacket/sweater/hoodie-for both indoor and outdoor use!

Definitely sounds rather warm to me for November, but I have lived in England my whole life, so I view anything nicer than constant drizzle as deeply suspicious.

I will bring a hoodie (and expect not to use it), and deodorant (and use it a lot). Thanks for the heads up!

Revised forecast looking better.

Wednesday High 61(F) Low 44(F) still chilly on Texan's standards, but the day should be sunny, so that's better. Temps will maintain mid-60s till Saturday when we dip back into the 50's.

Yeah, 2 years ago was miserable driving conditions.

I just can't get over how different Dallas's weather can be from Austin's.

I like when there is miserable cold weather at the Con, because it really justifies being cooped up indoors for 4 days straight playing games. Definitely don't want anyone driving in ice though.

The Mrs. and I left out early that year in hopes to dodge the storm. We succeeded, but it was really interesting to see cars that were traversing the highway with ice hanging off the wheel wells.

We fly home to Seattle on Alaska, and we took off from DFW that day despite the ice (and all the cancellations). As we were being deiced, the pilot made jokes about how this was nothing to them, they take off and land on runways that are nearly giant sheets of ice all the time.

It's worth noting that the Storm Prediction Center has DFW in a severe weather risk before BGG.CON begins, during the Monday-Tuesday time frame. This could impact those of you traveling on those dates, so please monitor later forecasts.

I really hope not! I'm flying from the UK on Monday and it would be very sad if weather prevents me from making my first trip to the States.

The shaded area is where there is a 15% chance of severe weather occurring within 25 miles of any point within that area. This is much different from saying there's a 15% chance of severe weather occurring at all in this area, which is the incorrect interpretation of the map. That isn't depicted, but can be inferred through local forecasts of thunderstorm chances.

SPC doesn't highlight areas this far in advance often, so this is a higher confidence forecast that there will be severe weather within the highlighted areas.
