I cant find the match anywhere. I have never seen the Slam in use, so id love to see that game and if he used it.
Is it a good list for a newbie like me?

Generally speaking, if Aaron is using it, it's not going to be terribly new user friendly. He is crazy good, and uses non traditional lists in very innovative ways.

I saw two of his games in the live stream. He didn't use them often, mainly just to arc dodge, to keep his ships alive. It was the trade off of "attack or move out of the way". He also used it a lot to do a tighter poor man's k-turn (i.e. two 3 turns in a row). The K-Wings are nice and forgiving for newer players, since they have turrets, a lot of health, and a good dial. I think you'd have fun with his list.

I tested the list in my local gaming club yesterday. Played three matches, won three matches. I really do like the list - you don't even have to deal a lot of stress, the fear of becoming extremely stressed really drives your enemy into moves he would rather not dial in, just to keep out of the tacticians' arcs.

No, not everyone will. But I always liked the K-Wing and this list contains three of them and flys different from what I use to play every other day.

The Meta is wide open. Nearly everything can win or be played successfully these days.

9th place after Swiss was a nearly completely old school Howlrunner Swarm. The only really old school list I was able to find so far was a Howlrunner Swarm in 193 of 267.

So, nearly noone (of those who filed their lists at http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/get_tourney_details?tourn...) tried to fly anything oldschool. So I guess we don't really know.

It's hard to say if the old lists are being play because of the meta or because players prefer to mix things up with the new. I'm really tempted to fly double falcons (the double-focusing and target locking PTLed Lando+Chewie w/Recon Specialist) just to see how it would hold up in today's meta. It's got a lot of play last year but has fallen out of fashion this year.

As I recall, he also used the SLAM to get across the table faster and start shooting before his opponent was quite ready to engage. That is a very interesting feature of the list.

Also Tactician only works in arc, so you have a fairly small area to use it.

He did. He did a 3 and then a 3 slam with all 3 of his ships, taking him up to his opponent while he was still heading towards asteroids.

The arc is small, but with 3 ships, it's hard not to be in range of at least one of them. And all it takes is one round of double stressing to greatly curtail people's movements.

I flew one K-Wing over the weekend and used Slam to get her into a flanking position that worked well. I also slammed a couple times to get out of arc (did a 2 turn left, then 2 turn right, and snaked through the arcs of two ships, was awesome).
