Confirmed to be true.

This is a good move, and I'm certain they're coming to realize how lucrative board games, and skirmish-miniature-game-in-a-box can be.

Somebody in marketing must be paying attention to Kickstarter, and how many board games are making companies a windfall.

I have my doubts about continued support, as everything of late, barring the core properties has been a single splash release. GW seems to cash in on the now or never consumer mentality, and it's working. It makes me wonder if this is a sign of change?

I'm patient enough to wait and see if more games outside the big 2 get at least some support post-release. If that's the case, I would probably pick up at least a couple of these titles again.

Where did you get confirmation? I do not see it on the GW page.

It's on their official store app.
I assume that's confirmation, no?

Cool! I wonder why they haven't posted it on their web page.

Or some one noticed how lucrative small box, and board games are becoming.

They are bringing back Blood Bowl (Third Edition), but other manufactures already produce everything but the rulebook, and most of it better than Games Workshop did!

So I guess I'm "meh" about the news.

I'm excited for this. It is about time, really. How sustainable is a model based around games where the barrier of entry into them is several hundred or several thousand dollars just to get the core rulebook and enough miniatures to play? Really, it is a wise move. Hopefully they don't release so many games like last time that they fragment and then just go back to the same Warhammer Fantasy and WH40K.

I'm a huge fan of Necromunda and, to a lesser extent, Mordheim, and I would love to see those re-released. I would love to see them bring back Gorkamorka so I could try it. (Plus, I could mix those gangs and the vehicle rules with Necromunda!)

A Mordheim relaunch would blow open this boardgame geek web site like a warpstone cross bolt to the gut!

Gorkamorka was pretty fun. I preferred it to mordheim and necromunda, I think just the flavour. I'm pretty sure at one point they had the rules for free, plus da uvver book on the gw site, but my guess they took it down.

I do recall them having those rulebooks for free on their website for a time. I remember getting some second edition rules for Necromunda there when those came out. (Granted, I still play with the first edition rules when I play the game, but that is besides the point.)

In some ways, it does not surprise me that they are re-opening the Specialist Games shop given how many of Games Workshop's games are coming out in digital form and doing very well or are highly anticipated. I remember not too long ago seeing trailer videos posted here for Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, and I think every knows about or has at least played the new Blood Bowl games that were released. It looks like Space Hulk is getting another game with Space Hulk: Deathwing this year from the same developer that made the Blood Bowl games. And since we mentioned Mordheim, let's not forget to mention the Mordheim video game that was also released recently. Without trying to sound [too] cynical, it's a great marketing tactic to bounce the two off of each other: "Hey, if you liked the board game, give the video game a try!" and vice versa. Or, make sure you hit all types of gamers by having both board games and video games.

I don't have a line on GW scuttlebutt, but has anyone heard more about this. That is to say, what games are coming back and it what form?

I've been having a heck of a good time playing Necromunda with the "Necromunda Community Edition" revision from yaktribe.org, but I know I'd be able to find alot more players if it was officially re-released.

There's been a lot of movement. You can check out belloflostsouls.com for the latest scuttlebutt. I don't know if it's the best site, but (as someone who's not huge into GW) checking them out usually keeps me abreast of the developments.

I went to a GW store today, and I was told that Forge World, while similar to the old structure, is being considered a separate company by ownership. They way it was explained to me, GW will handle the "big" releases (like starters), and FW will handle the smaller expansions/individual model sales for their lines (largely as POD).

No word on what is actually getting printed, but from the above, I'd imagine stuff like Battlefleet Gothic.

It seems quite clear the models are being redone. We've seen Bloodbowl models and the new Epic 40k models will actually be a different scale. So I'm curious how much energy/effort will go into revamping the rules too.
