Played our first 2p game and most everything clicked. Wondering about the extensions though. Assuming you score a couple of cabins and can now do three upgrades per activation on the relevant tile is there a maximum number of these which can be used to place extensions? Up to three (or whatever) fixed point doublings for the few random keyples or resources seems a bit overpowered.

No maximum, except of course for the number of fixed point tiles you can collect (since each can only be doubled once) and the 20 total extensions available.

It sort of balances itself, though, since doubling your best tile is hopefully a lot of points, but doubling your, say, third best tile probably doesn't get you nearly as much.

Don't forget you can double the number of upgrades with the appropriate summer boat. And activate other player's home / upgrade tiles.

That being said if you spend too many resources on upgrades, you will probably not score much with winter tiles nor will you win bids.

you could probably argue that almost everything is over-powered in 2 player as scores tend to get really high. i've played 2 player a lot and it's true that you'll need some extensions as part of your final score but if it's all you have your opponent is going to crush you. 2 player is interesting - the most efficient way to score is to focus on a few things and really max them out. the problem with this is your opponent knows what you're doing and if you're depending on a certain winter tile you can expect a battle.
