The following could be included in the game as traits or events:

-'Enhanced Hearing'.

-'Social' and 'Territorial' [Lone].

-'Remaining Still', and 'Speed' (pursuit or escape for Carnivores or herbivores).

-'Viral Illness, 'Bacterial Illness'. These cards play on an opponent's species and are not traits. The latter adds +2 to the amount a species needs to eat. The former subtracts two food and population per turn from one species after feeding. Until 6 have been taken , and then moves to another species of the same (Carnivore/Herbivore) type. Is discarded after (-12) tokens.

-'Panic', which allows a herbivore to attack any other card once to kill it, yet not feed off it.

-'Aquatic'. Enough for a set of related cards. Vulnerable to 'Intelligence' while body size is not too large. Otherwise can only be attacked by another 'Aquatic' species. 'Electro-Reception'.

-A "human" attribute card, 'Sapient'.

constantly thinking on variants to create and implement

I think NSG will already include "hibernate" in the Climate Expansion, so it's very difficult bring out ideas that they don't tested already. NSG play test their games a lot thumbsup

Also, there is an unofficial Anfibian Expansion in the file section that includes aquatic, new species boards and a lot of new traits/events cards ideas.

This is my favourite.

I would have it play something like:

After a carnivore successfully feeds from this species, you may immediately attack another species as if you had the carnivore trait. You receive no food from this attack. However, any species with Scavenger will receive meat food from the kill, as usual.

It rewards investing in a larger body size. It lets herbivore players influence the game more, for example to reduce the score of someone who is building a lead. And it sets up some nice combos.

Yeah, that one's neat but with Panic, you could set off a chain reaction. In fact, why not add:

You must attack a species with panic if possible.

To the effect? That way carnivores might be put off by the chained effect which might either cause their species to be attacked or the herbivore population to become depleted when they haven't finished eating...

Such as that,

Quote:
You must attack a species with panic if possible.
should become

-"One opponent may be obliged to attack one species under panic,
[If this player decides]".

This way, panicking species don't requisite draw a carnivore attack, which might manage create an unwanted dual situation for the player of the card. Or perhaps not, if such a Panic card were to even be slightly different in it's conceit.
