Have been a reader of BGG for a while, but this is my first post. I am relocating from the North West to Gloucester in the middle of February, and given I will have precisely zero friends (in-laws don't count), wondered if anyone out there is interested in putting together a gaming group? I had a look, but Tewksbury or Bath seem to be the nearest, and there are only a handful of users that have indicated they are from Gloucester.....
The games I have/have access to are:
Amun - Re
Blue Moon City
Carcassonne - The Castle
Carcassonne: Inns and Cathedrals
El Grande (Decennial)
Elasund - The First City of Catan
Grand Dalmuti, The
Lord of the Rings
LoTR : Friends and Foes
LoTR : Sauron
Memoir '44 : Pacific Theatre
Risk: LotR Trilogy
Settlers of Catan
Thurn and Taxis
Ticket to Ride (plus 1910 expansion)
Ticket to Ride Europe
Tigris and Euphrates
War of the Ring
would have added them to the 'My Collection' bit, but haven't done it all yet....)
Get up, get up, get up, get down, fall over.
Suggest you search for users in the area - click on the Union Jack above somebody's avatar (e.g. mine) to search for users in the UK, narrow it down to city (sort in order of last access) to see if there are any regular Geeks in Gloucester. Only choose those who have logged on recently (clicking on their name should allow you to view their profile to see any contributions and their collection).
You can then do the same search but on state ('Gloucestershire', could try 'Gloucester' as well as other nearby counties) and then repeat it all but on the England flag rather than the Union Jack.
Note down the names in the brackets for each user.
You can use this list of Geeks either to contact them asking if there is a club in Gloucester or, failing that, set one up yourself. The easiest way is to compose one geekmail (from your mailbox) with all the names in the "To" box, separated by commas. This will send an individual mail to each of the names you have selected.
That is how I found a few people in Bolton. First meeting within the next week!
Stoke on Trent
Come on you Seagulls! Sami Hyppia's Blue & White army!
That's weird. This bit used to mention Shire Games, and tell you all how wonderful we are. But it seems to have got deleted. Let's see what happens this time ....
I'm pretty sure the guys from the Into the Gamescape podcast are all Gloucester-based.
Check them out here:
Cheers for that guys,
Will do a bit more work, and see what comes of it.....
