Subject: Echo vs Erthen 75p. Kill'em All - new Echo playtest rss

Game 3

We had Echo fighting against a CC and RC specialised forces. Now it was time for something in the middle, much like Echo. It was time for Erthen.

Gamescape - random

Erthen - 2 rec. Tremor, 2 rec. Geomancer, 2 vet. Ion core, 2 vet. Hellebore. My friend suspected I'll use an elite Minbender to try Domination, so he decided to go wit 2 rec. Tremor. I that way I won't be able to constantly chase away his 24p. investment.

Echo - 1 vet. Mindbender, 1 el. Mindbender, 1 vet. Psi-blade, 1 vet. Nether-tech, 1 vet. Pyro, 1 rec. Psion.



The amount of Erthen looked scary. Seeing 2 indepedent forces was something I expected but the size of them did suprised me.

R1/R2/R3)


By the round 3 Erthen managed to surround my force, with Hellebore flanking. I focused on Tremors seeing them as the bigest danger (it was a big mistake). Psi-blade and Nether-tech attack did only 1 wound on the Tremor (2 stoneskin saves). In r2 and r3 elite Mindbender had done 2 succesfull Dominations - one on Hellebore, to chase him away (the top one) and on Tremor to make him slap Ion (1 wound). The Ion in the bottom tried to use Magnetic force on bottom hellebore and failed. Pyro accelerated by Telepathy got in close to the other Tremor and ignited a Firewall 1wound (which mean 2 but one saved again by Stoneskin).
At that moment I didn't looked that bad
And the r4 began.

At the end of 4th round, I remember me sitting there thinking, what just happened?

To avoid damage from Firewall bottom Ion lifted Tremor to place him in the middle. It doesn't happen very often. Accelerated Pyro chases Tremor and uses Fireblast (2 damage for Ion, 1 for each Tremor - Stoneskin). Top Ion uses Magnetic force to move Hellebore. A success. Hellebore lands touching Nether-tech and the blast comes (2 wound). Psi-blade and Nether-tech are heavily damaged. Psion is dead. The horror, the horror . Bottom Hellebore runs into contact with vet. Mindbender. On my side another successfull Domination. Tremor slaps Ion (1wound). Nether shooting did 1 wound on top Tremor. Geomancers went to work.

R5/R6)


Erthen are moving. Hellebore blast deals 2 damage to vet. Mindbender. Top Tremor runs towards elite Minbender but is yet again chased away by a successfull Domination. Becouse Erthen won the initiative, Pyro is long dead (thanks to Tremor).

R7)


This picture represents what happend in the middle of r7. Erthen made a wall of bodies. Elite Mindbender scored another Domination - Tremor slaps Iond (1 wound ). Instead of chaseing my soldiers top Ion just lifted the elite Mindbender a delivered him at the doorsteps of Tremors. One slap from Tremor was enought for the Mindbender to forget all about his psychic abilities Next was the bottom Ion, who done the same with the Nether-tech.

This was the begining of r9. Look at it and weep
That lone Mindbender went home with shame.
Hail Erthen!

And I were so blind. Instead of targeting Tremor I should kill Hellebore as soon as possible. I should keep my soldiers in a more loose formation. I could have done many thing, but I haven't done them . My friend's tacic was the best I can imagine for Erthen. It was a master piece executed perfectly.

Hellebore - I were a little disapointed after testing him in our first games. But they were small games 30/40p. The crowd was smaller In a biger game that template can hit a lot more chracters. They are the lithe and fast kamikaze, that can sow havoc in tight enemy lines. 10p. sacrifice is realy worth it.

Ion - I knew he's good. Unfortunetly his Magnetic force isn't very reliable. If you take two it's a diffrent story. They were the masterminds behind the massacre. I don't need to write more about it's potential. The story proves it.

Geomancers - very good at their job. That's all I excpect from a chracter.

Tremor - I hoped they will be more vunerable. Thier Stoneksin was a hard nut to crack.

Domination - great ability. Please, let it stay. 3 dice instead of 2 make an diffrence. Elite Mindbender had proved to be a good counterbalance for Ion's. It's a great unit. If my rolls - Tremor vs Ion were luckier it could have been a diffrent game. A don't think he requires any modifications. He's worth 19 and for that price get your fair share to joy and usefullness.

Nice battle report!!

I agree with you on all your evaluations of erthen! Hellebore is the perfect sacrifice and if you get him on difficult terrain, he can be a game changer with the splash and high defense!

Tremors stone skin is really annoying for enemies but his high defense is the purpose of this character. We already nerfed his defense at elite to 7, so that's to nerf the effect of stone skin. You might disagree with me but I honestly don't find shockwave that useful in a lot of situations, because it affects allies, doesn't affect huge characters, and while you stun your enemy, it's only useful if you have other characters to deal damage, and the thing is that tremor again is the best character to deal damage. Sorry I got ahead of myself but I think tremors cost is acceptable even though his defense and stone skin is so powerful.

I love Tremor. I'd never do anything to change him. Althought never seen Shochwave is action, must try it one day.
