April 1941 – Allies

Weather is Rain.

Strategic Warfare

The British have Lend Lease again. The Axis must decide to send the DaVinci and one German wolf – pack into the South Africa convoy box, trying to interdict possible shipment to Afrika depot, or to send two of the three German subs there, with the third hitting the North Atlantic convoys. A random die roll splits their efforts, 2 5-step subs into each convoy box. The British are sending everything they can to their Afrika depot. The German subs in the box go after the Lend Lease shipment.

With no more carrier air units, the British are in truly desperate straights on the high seas. Spread thin, they have no way to counter the fast reaction of the German U-Boats. The rest of this year might be grim.

British and German DD's off the US coast trade torpedo salvoes and score 1 hit each.

In the North Atlantic disaster truly arrives. The powerful German forces there score 4 hits, reducing the British DD to 2-steps and taking 2 blue steps from the British BB. At least the Royal Oak combined with the small British cruiser force to score 2 ½ hits on the Germans, but those hits were spread out and had no effect (the picture above is wrong showing a German sub reduced). In the South American CA box, astoundingly, not a single hit is scored by either side. The UK loses 4YPP and 1 Oil (irrelevant).

Production

Britain builds 3 DD steps, 4 HQ steps, sends 11YPP and 2RPP (along with lend lease) to Afrika. In Afrika builds 1 armor step and 3 bomber steps, saves 7YPP, 4RPP, 3BPP. Saves nothing in the UK, losing 14(!)BPP.

Strategic Rail Movmement

Both Navy HQ's activate, along with Churchill, to fuel 7 fleets. Churchill also fuels the Desert Rats in Egypt! As long as Germany isn't quite ready to support the Italians, the British will go on the offensive here. Their Air HQ activates their fighter and their bomber!

Movement

The British slam hard into the not quite fully prepared Italian infantry in Egypt! With air support along, the Desert Rats and a large marine infantry unit attack!

Combat

The Italian fighter unit is not ready to fight yet, so Italy takes a beating. Their infantry are reduced by a total of 3 steps and have to retreat. Fortunately (they think) the British are getting near the end of the range for their fighters. And the Axis can get supplies to Afrika much more effectively right now than can the British.

Even so, the Commonwealth rejoices at the news of their first victory of the war. Hopes are raised that such successes will lead the Americans to join the war. More sober war planners realize that any such hopes are distant, and the British peoples' struggles will not wait for the sleeping giant to awaken.

And the Dust flies in North Afrika. Maybe for you and Greg its not, but for me there's nothing easy about working a winning stratgy in this game. It can get fairly complicated at times.whistlegulp

Nah, it's no problem. I'm sure to win. No way I can lose, really...
