Shit just got real in Angola.

Quote:
Claiming that Islam was a sect, the African nation of Angola becomes the first country to ban Islam, Muslims and has shut down the mosques in the country.

The African nation of Angola has become the first country to ban Islam and Muslims, reports On Islam.

Concerning the ban, Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos has said: “This is the final end of Islamic influence in our country.”

Shit? Indeed. Just? 2013.

This was a story from two years ago (this is the anniversary, in fact), and a false one at that. Cursory checking would have found that immediately.

So not they did not outlaw it, becasue it is not legal.

http://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2013-11-26-no-angola-...

So rather more complex than the OP suggests.

It's still 2 years old, but thanks.
Just trying to give a balanced picture.

You did not seem to take issue with it being two years old when you replied before to this thread.

I am asking why you did not criticize the OP for being two years out of date, as it seems so important to you.

Does that make you worse than Trump?
That is because I did not check the date on the OP's link, and the story is two years old. I checked the date of the actual story, but none the less his link is still out of date. The fact is neither you nor the OP bothered to fact check this story, you just ran with it.

You were quite happy to ruin with the story when you thought you could use it as a childish gotcha, you only decided to cry "OLD NEWS!" when it turned out no one wanted to play and your gotcha had fallen flat (maybe you should have waited rather then just jumping in all slavering at the mouth at the first opportunity).

It was a childish gotcha to start with, and now you are just scraping the barrel to find some method of still going "LIBTARDS!".

That's correct -- Judaism is considerably more rare than most people anticipate. I believe Jews are 0.5% of America's population.

No, apostasy is for those who renounce Islam. What they do after isn't relevant.

Ergh, apostasy (leaving a religion) is punishable by death in Islam -- or at least, according to 33% of Muslims or so.

the difference is of course that it is a lot easier to be an atheist and still pretend to be a muslim than attempting to practice another religion

Alright, I reread a couple times and I think I see what you were saying -- if you leave islam for another religion (or no religion) you are still committing apostasy.

Essentially, your grammar was funny and it confused me, and this is banal but:

"No, apostasy is for those who renounce Islam" isn't quite right, it's "No, apostates are those who renounce Islam" or "No, apostasy is the act of renouncing Islam" or something like that.

That's where my confusion came from, pretty boring, sorry.
