I just posted the following on page 301 of new user questions on how to get an avatar: Three hundred one pages on how to get an avatar, Ha! Whatever happened to point and click? Whatever happened to buy it now? Whatever happened to everything is easy....?
Commentators have suggested a weird idea about how the computers are melding with or messing with our heads... you know, some sort of metaphysical metamorphosis that the internet is possibly bringing forth into the "real world".
I'm thinking something stranger is happening back in the old days people had to wait for the TV and the radio and the record player to warm up... And then we got "instant on". But now we have to wait for the TV and the radio and the record player to warm up, again! They gotta buffer or scan the tracks or do whatever it is they've got to do...
But wait! Remember with new math, how everyone would have to learn computer code for the new age, not realizing that some guy in China or Bill Gates could do it and expanding memory would make all that unnecessary. Well, apparently, there aren't enough code writers after all, because getting things done in any new way takes so much time. Push this button and your problem is solved! Click on this thing on your screen and it will be destroyed forever!
I'm having to tell people who are having computer or TV or other electronic problems, "You just have to know how to talk to them [computers], they aren't as smart and as fast as we are."
In any case, they keep sucking me back in... who is "they"?
I still don't have an avatar... ...and at the beginning of this year, I was up to my neck in geek gold. So, I have been scattering gold at the feet of the Legions in order to gain their allegiance. Apparently, they too can't figure out what it's good for.
