What factions would you like to see added in the future? Any interesting thematic mechanisms?

Aliens/Martians - can "abduct" opponents' workers

I want just the opposite - more historical factions. Vikings, Carthaginians, Mayans, Macedonians, etc.

Problem is "barbarians" cover a lot of possible factions. I like the sound of Aztecs or Mayans.

Lemmings is still top of my list though

I prefer the historical background in the case of Imperial Settlers.

An African tribe or a Native American faction. Or Inuit to cover a pole.

I've sort of always thought of them as being historically earlier than the Romans, but they do certainly cover most of what a Gallic faction would. (Apologies to Asterix...)

Very different from the Huns though, which might also be fun. Lots of horses...

I want goats! They can jump really high and they're very good at eating grass! I knowshake...those are not really useful in Imperial Settlers, but a girl can dream...

I like the original four and wanted them to stick with the more realistic stuff too, but then Atlanteans came out and that was out the window. whistle

The art style is pretty playful so it makes sense for them to veer off the accurate historical path a bit. As long as the gameplay is good!

I agree whole heartedly

I wouldn't mind a fantasy type faction, like elves or dwarves,

But if we keep with the the "historical" type factions, the Mongolians would be great!

Mayans and Aztecs could work if you create a completely different playing style which is re presentable of their culture.

I would maybe try other other way around, which mechanism would be cool and different and find a culture that fits that.

I think a faction that continuously upgrades their own buildings to be cool, making the building stronger and better. Maybe that could be like dwarfs or so, small space to build (one mountain) but awesome ways to enhance (dig deeper)

Egyptians is kinda in that area though.

I was thinking more like Native Americans or Mayans. Or Eskimos:-)

I'd insist that Egypt is a wholly different african culture.

Arabian cultures were significant during the middle ages (since the game is bad with time anyway) and I feel like they have the bonus of having scientific advances and great math to add to their general empire. Haha.

I was thinking something colonial. British Empire.... where you get benefits for spreading out. This could work for mongols or russians too I think.

The cards would give you a benefit for every three cards in that row of the tableau. Like a faction card that gives you a bonus for every 3 faction action card you have in play etc. Or an action that you can activate more often for every two faction feature cards you have...

I'd love to be able to play the Aztecs. A lot of stuff to incorporate into the game:

Flower wars - Razing to gain people.
Sacrifices - Using those people in sacrifices to keep the Fifth World alive, probably gaining points in return.
Gold mines - Aztecs are famous for their gold so they should have some nice gold production but probably little else.

Might be a bit darker than the other faction but then again the Egyptians got slaves anyway and my group talks about the faction board action of using people to gain resources/cards as 'sacrificing' too.

For me the dark theme means no problem if the graphic will be the same.

We already have a crazy/sci-fi/steampunk theme in Atlanteans and they might appear a way off in some point of view. But they seem to be fun and enjoyable addition to the game nevertheless.

The only other expectation I have beyond the graphic is some more or less historic theme/consistency. If we talk about historical factions near Romans, Egyptians, Japans or even Atlanteans, something like Lovecraft's mythos or fantasy Hellspawns would be IMO slightly "out" and less consistent.

On the other hand, a dark faction utilising some kind of sacrificing like the Aztecs (or Mayans perhaps) would be perfect.

Also, I wouldn't recommend any use of "cannibal" faction/mechanics at all.

I would like every option but think that fantasy nations should be released as a group so that the two games do not have to mix. It would be easier to balance too if these were balanced between themselves instead of having to be backwards compatible.

I mean, I'd love them to be backwards compatible but that's bound to end in a broken mess as the game becomes so complex.

If a sci-fi theme is to be introduce IMO it should be a separate game because the resources would have to change for thematic reasons.
