I am having a hard time telling what parts of this are POD and what parts are preprinted in the box. I am really interested in playing this coop; however, if too much of it is POD, I may not get it.

I DO understand the rulebook is POD, and that is OK.

Thank you!

I suspect you may have the wrong impression of what POD means.

You personally do not have to print anything to play Forgotten Souls. All the required components are included in the game box.

The only item missing is the rulebook, which is available on-line. If you wish to print that for ease of play then you can (otherwise you can simply view it on-line while you play the game).

The term "POD" in such instances is really a manufacturing term. FFG do not want to go through the traditional manufacturing procedure of having several thousand copies printed up front. As an alternative, they opt for a smaller print run that will cost more per unit but it means they don't have to carry any inventory. If they sell out and require more, then they might consider going with another small print run. Another disadvantage with this is that the quality between print runs may vary as may the exact print colour / card stock / finish of the components.

As far as you should be concerned, there is little different between this POD expansion and many other small expansions. All the components are in the box ready for play except for the rulebook.

Yeah, to play this you need to buy 2 things:
- Descent Core Box (http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=D...)
- Forgotten Souls POD pack (http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?SKU=u...)

The only thing you have to "print" yourself is the Forgotten Souls rulebook (https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/88/86...). The Print-On-Demand pack doesn't include the rulebook, just the cards and a sheet or two.

Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Dark Elements is POD co-op that uses both the base & LotW...FYI

Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Dark Elements is POD co-op that uses both the base & LotW...FYI

To explain further, there are currently three official co-op quests:

- Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Forgotten Souls: Requires only the Core Set
- Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Nature's Ire : Requires only the Core Set
- Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Dark Elements : Requires Core Set and Lair of the Wyrm

The 'requires' part is because of the tiles used in the co-op and the monster selection. You can use all the expansions you own in any of the co-ops (the Heroes, Classes, Shop Items, etc are all cominable). You don't though use all the monsters nor the tiles from all expansions, just the ones the co-op dictates.
