Looking for a reputable game retailer with low prices, wide selection, cheap shipping, etc. :-)

My favorites are:

www.boardsandbits.com
www.fairplaygames.com
www.thoughthammer.com

They have great prices, good service, and a good selection. www.funagain.com also has a huge selection, but their prices tend to be higher.

Good luck with your purchase!

Thanks!

I've used Thoughthammer in the past but noticed that their site is down.

seeing you are in VA, i would suggest either boulder games or gamesurplus for your online ordering. those are both reputable and cheap online retailers and they will ship your games with the cheapest rate according to geographic location you are in.

I've had excellent service from:
Boards and Bits
Cardhaus and
Thought Hammer - recently received EVERYTHING Federation Commander (Except Romulan Border), Hellas, Chessex Dice Boot, and three GMT Counter Trays - ZERO problems.

I've raced Thoughthammer and Fairplay (put in orders within an hour of each other). They both got to me the next week within a day. Thoughthammer 'seems' to get them out a bit quicker, often same day. Fairplay is quick no complaints, but seems to get them out next day.

I tend to go with Thoughthammer. For the most part I find them to have the best prices.

Fairplay has more on the 'sales' and ding and dent it seems. But, it's not like those are great things right now.

I have been taking a serious look at board and bits lately. They seem to have a VERY good selection and there are several titles I've only found there. Put my first oredr in wiht them this week.

I never seem to find things at Funagain to be priced well, so I've never ordered from them. Although my group is putting together an order just for Incan Gold.

As someone who has bought over 700 games over the last 5 years, I have used many online game dealers. I have rarely had problems with any of them. I found that living in the Philly area that Gamesurplus gets the games to me the quickest since they are nearby. Bouldergames is my number one site by number of games bought. Fairplay, Board&Bits,Funagain, ThoughtHammer,Cardhaus,Le Valet d'Coeur,Germangames,,Newspiel,Timewellspent,RC Hobbies.....and a few more have all been satisfactory over the years.I try to bunch games to save on shipping when possible. Of these sites the more expensive is Funagain since they do not discount up to 35%. For out of print games or hard to find games I have the most success with NobleKnight, Trolland toad, and Board&Bits. Sometimes I buy games at retail prices from The Compleat Strategist as their store is 15 minutes from me and I don't have to pay shipping but the savings are lost as I am paying retail.

Unless you're buying $125 worth of games at a time, fairplay has exorbitant shipping to our area (I live in DC) -- that's a fairly recent phenomenon and has really changed how much I order from them. I generally use gamesurplus.com for smaller orders/special orders/instant gratification (often next day with the regular shipping option). They are where I go first. Boulder and levalet get a lot of my business because they carry such interesting stuff early. Funagain also carries interesting stuff early but not as deeply discounted.

My bulk orders often go to boardsandbits or thoughthammer -- but beware the lure of pre-orders which can hold up delivery for ever. I don't blame the retailers for this -- you know what you're getting in to -- but I do notice that some make pre-orders available much earlier than others, so the temptation is greater, especially when there's flat rate shipping or a shipping minimum.

And if you're in the market for kid's Eurogames, gamesurplus and timewellspent generally have the best stock. Although levalet and cardhaus are often where I end up when I want something from Drei Magier.

I primarily use Boulder Games (http://www.bouldergames.com) but I've used the aforementioned Thoughthammer and Fairplay Games occasionally as well, and have had no problems...
