As usual I received the "Hey, you're the game guy. Bring something for us to play" request from our host.

Sigh.

In the past I've brought Telestrations, Wits & Wagers, Perudo, CAH back when it was PnP.

I don't want to bring those. Well, maybe dice for Perudo. Codenames will come for sure.

We are seven adults. Alcohol will be served. Needs to be easy to teach. Nothing too long. The game is an activity, not the activity.

So, what say you all? Anything in my collection jump out and scream "Happy New Year?"

Dixit plays up to 6 and is simple. You could have two people play as a team.

Codenames, as you said, is a good one to take along.

Going, Going, GONE! is another simple, quick game.

Resistance has some potential as well.

Half of the friends that I'm celebrating with tomorrow play board games regularly, the other half do not. I do not generally enjoy "party games" and I have also been tasked with bringing along some games.

Considering the there will be a fair bit of beer and spirits involved, I'm going to appeal to the lowest common denominator and bring Cards Against Humanity.

I will also bring Munchkin in case anyone wants to play.

Good luck!

Thanks.

Dixit might be a good addition.

I tried Resistance a couple of years back. Didn't go over well, although that was mainly due to one person who won't be there this time. Might be worth bringing.

I think my son has Munchkin packed in his overnight bag, so that will probably stay in the children's lair.

Still just not feeling enthused about my choices, except Codenames.

Battlestar Galactica? I've never played with the expansions, but it looks like you have them, enabling you to go to 7.

That's my new years game plan :-) We're doing Avalon: the resistance, then will hive off and do Battlestar Galactica. The other group will probably do Apples to Apples - ha.

Though maybe that's too long a game?

Spyfall
Good Cop Bad Cop

Both work with 7, and are easy to teach/easy to play.

Battlestar Galactica - definitely too much game for this setting.

The Resistance - didn't go over too well with this group, but might be worth bringing along. Maybe someone will recognize it and suggest it.

BANG! The Dice Game - Good option for the group. Not my favorite, but it is a good fit for the setting.

Spyfall and Good Cop Bad Cop -- unfortunately I don't own either.

Other not CAH apples to apples type games can be good. Consider Snake Oil: Party Potion it could go well with adults?

Deception: Murder in Hong Kong is my favorite social deduction game with a twist. Quick, great players count, and does not require great acting so it works well with certain gamers who otherwise have trouble Werewolf-style games.

If you bring Spyfall, don't forget to have one packet that doesn't have a spy card. Or better yet, has a card of a different location.. devil

While I brought a selection of games, in the end we only played Codenames. Great game, although at 3am it was a bit too much of a brain-burner for a couple of people.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
