Do the restrictions and cohesion hits for cavalry moving adjacent to elephants (and vice versa) apply to friendly elephants and cavalry? Rules are not clear. I have been interpreting as horses want nothing to do with being near elephants, regardless of whose side they are on.
I`m not a designer of the game and I don`t remember seeing any answer for this issue in FAQs and errata. Don`t know if this is correct.
Rules 9.15 and 9.16 mention "enemy cavalry" and I personally only used restrictions and cohesion hits in regards to enemy cavalry/enemy elephants. Rules-wise, I don`t see a reason to apply those restrictions to one`s own forces.
We even talked with my face-to-face opponents about this issue some time ago... but we weren`t able to reach any real conclusion.
TQ and Special Checks: "Cavalry when an elephant moves adjacent" = TQ check with a minimum of 1 hit
Automatic Cohesion Hits: "Cavalry moves into an elephant flank/rear hex" = 2 hits.
I know that rules and charts can't be 100 percent consistent and clear, especially as charts need to actually fit on the page. But I wasn't reading the rules and charts as being completely clear on the issue. So, I applied the more restrictive interpretation (that's my brainwashing from 25 years in the military).
Just curious how others play / interpret this.
