Basically i'm trying to determine if the 2 pearl space would trigger and the Court refills after using The Opportunist power to discard and replace a Lord from the Court and there are 3 Lords available.
I know you refill the Court if there are less than 3 Lords after recruiting a Lord. Do the other Lords move over when a Lord is discarded from the Court or does the new Lord take the space of the discarded Lord?
I have been playing it the second way normally but i'll give some examples
I have 3 Lords in Court, A,B, and C. A occupies the 2 pearl space.
1. I discard and replace A with D using The Opportunist. Do i get 2 pearls and refill the court to the max after drawing D?
2. I discard B and replace it with D using The Opportunist. Does A move to the right or does D take the spot B was previously in?
Hi, first things first: you do not get the pearls, since you replaced a Lord, rather than recruit one. Only if a Lord is recruited and that action leaves only 2 Lords on the track, does the active player get 2 pearls and is the track refilled.
Secondly: (just to make sure) it is not relevant which lord is taken. If any Lord is taken, all other Lords move (following the arrows) to the right. As soon as enough Lords have been taken this way to leave the 2 pearl space open, the active player who caused this to happen gets the two pearls. Subsequently, the track gets refilled. Whether or not the last Lord that was taken was the one covering the spot with the pearls does not matter, since the Lords will always move as much to the right as possible before determining whether the active player is entitled to any pearls.
