I'm picking this game up for my son's 10th birthday. I know he'll love it.

One problem: there's NO WAY anyone is going to write on these cards.
Not gonna happen.

I could sleeve the cards and write on the sleeves, but I'd rather not.

What I'd like to do is this: use 10-sided dice to track damage on each card.
Would that be workable and convenient?
Would the dice get in the way?

Do any units have more than 10 hit points?

And if this is workable, what's the color scheme for the Romans and the Carthaginians? I'd love to get matching dice.

I can't say whether it is viable. But my favorite color scheme is red for Rome and blue for Carthage. As in this game:
