My wife and I both enjoy games. Right now our favorites for just the two of us is Carcassonne and Jaipur. Jaipur is a little simple, Carcassonne is a little bit too much luck. I was hoping for something fun and cutish that is not too much of a brain burner so after baby goes to sleep we can enjoy together. I love plyaing Ghost Stories with her, but this is too much for her some nights... Suburbia is also a fav of mine, but it's not cute...if you're tired it almost feels like work (however I love it). Any thoughts...?

Cartagena. It's a 2-5 player game with fairly simple mechanics and decisions, but very meaningful decisions that I think usually win out over the luck of the draw.

With 2 players, you can play as written, or for more fun you can have each person take 2 sets of pirates (which each have to play their own hands separately) - and the first player to get 1 complete set on the boat wins.

My wife an I LOVE to play Splendor.

There is a lot of luck regarding which cards are turned up at which time, but it doesn't feel like it because you still have to think and strategize to make the most of the cards and plan a few steps ahead.

Regarding Carcassonne, what some people do is to have a "hand" of three tiles to choose from. Play one then draw a replacement. This helps to reduce some of the feelings of randomness.

As few other recommendations:

1. Fairytale - A drafting game that is on the lighter side. Heavier than Sushi Go!, but definitely lighter than something like 7 Wonders. Nice art as well.
2. Arboretum - a card game about creating sequences of trees in ascending numerical order. It has a deepness to it, but I don't think it's overwhelmingly so.

3. Valley of the Kings is a nice little deck builder. Although I'm not sure it meets the "cuteness" requirement you indicated.

Citadels for 2 players is nice. The cards have nice art, but I guess it isn't cute. The variation where you finish the game with only 7 buildings (as opposed to 8) plays at a very brisk pace.

Battle Line - still great after over 50 plays
Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation - 15 minutes of thematic fun if y'all are Tolkien fans
Tides of Time - if you like card drafting and making combos

Arboretum - though its more beautiful than cute.

The Builders: Antiquity - feels a lot like Splendor but a bit quicker and with more choices.

Nefarious - always ends with a few funny results from the invention cards.

Steam Park - is actually pretty light but setup and takedown can feel long.

+1 Patchwork, but if you're looking for cute, Agricola: All Creatures Big & Small (little animeeples!) might be good. It's pretty laid back as there's not much interaction, and it's also a perfect-information game so there's no luck.

THIS. As soon as you said "cute," I immediately thought of the teeny-tiny farm animals. It's about as cute as you can get, and it's actually a challenging and interesting game. Tough decisions. I have yet to beat my wife, of course.

This is the right answer. In fact after first playing Patchwork I felt it was a lot like a lighter version of Suburbia.

Yeah, hard to beat this one in terms of cute. Takenoko might give it a run for its money.

After our daughter goes down, we pull out Pandemic: the Cure a lot. Dice version of Pandemic, so obviously there's luck, but I feel like the game is well made, really fun for two people, but also a great game to pull out to introduce to new people.

Less cute, but is 7 Wonders Duel up your guys' alley?

It's OK. Not the best but OK. The problem for me is that I love to play Tokaido in a laid back manner, but the 2p experience is quite cutthroat.
