Today, Les Journées ludiques de Québec announces the contest Plateau d’Or 2016, the Quebec board game design contest.

Le Plateau d’Or has been part of the process for game designers now known to the general public. The 9th edition will be happening during the event, on May 21st.

Designers who want to participate and show their prototype to an interested audience as well as to judges composed of members from the board game industry (publishers, distributors, designers, enthusiasts), submissions are expected until the April 8, 2016. We expect them in large numbers! The contest is open to everyone, but the designer must be attending the event (May 21st) or be represented.

The rules and judges will be known soon. The rules has been updated, but are almost the same as last year, with the addition of crowdfunding cases.

Submissions must be sent to plateaudor@gmail.com

For any questions, post here or by email!

Here are some past winners that had a great visibility in the gaming industry:

Quebec from Pierre Poissant-Marquis and Philippe Beaudoin – 2007 winners

Richelieu from Olivier Lamontagne – 2009 winner

Gaïa from Olivier Rolko – 2013 winner

Will you be next?

I'm interested, I didnt know there where any serious boardgame events around here, but have several questions. Mostly summed up with:

What event?

What rules?

What do you send in? Gmail account?
