Out of curiosity...

When recruiting a team of heroes for a straight-up (non-adventure) battle, do you base your choices on what you think will be the strongest combination of characters, or rather on which characters seem to "belong" together thematically?

I can go either way, but as someone who relishes story value in his game sessions, I usually opt for teams composed of heroes that strike me as logical allies. The character bios in the adventure book provide excellent guidance in this regard, and are also useful springboards for designing your own scenarios.

I'm a theme-team kind of guy myself, and love pitting the more heroic-type supers against the more obviously villainous characters.

Maybe it's just a girl thing, but for me it's all about the theme. Lucky for me, my thematically correct (tee-hee) concoctions have a way of turning out to be pretty strong teams.

My roomie, though a theme lover also, is not so fortunate, but maybe that's because she's always playing me.
