I actually really like this game and once owned it, but I sold it when I got tired of occasionally freak rolls knocking a player out early and them having to wait 20 esque minutes.

I know King of New York has the same player elimination problem, but are there any thematic yahtzee esque games that are like this but dont have player elimination? I know there are player variants, but I dislike non official variants - I just want a playtested game thats balanced for the lack of elimination (and a part of me always feels annoyed when I do house rules or variants in the case that someone knows the normal way to play or someone perpetuates the incorrect way to play)

The only games I know to be semi similar are Bang! The Dice Game and King of New York. What others are there that dont have elimination? Are there any King Of games or expansions planned that elimnate the PE?

Ive heard and glanced at pretty much all of these. Im sure theyre fine games in their own right too...but I was hoping for something with a bit more fun or colorful a theme, since thats one of the things I like about KoT.

Star Trek Five Year Mission is a cooperative dice game so no player elimination. I mostly play it solitaire but officially is 3 - 7 players. A nice filler game for dice chuckers that isn't overly long.

Run, Fight, or Die! uses this sort of mechanic to perform your actions. No elimination - game ends if any player dies.

Take a look at a game like CV. It is a Dice game that is like an adult version of Game of Life.

Just pulled this off the shelf last night for a solo game. It's a very unusual game in that it is exactly 10 minutes long (with a sand timer or soundtrack) and it's very tense, frantic, cooperative dice chucking. I love how the temple rooms are revealed as you go and there are expansions to spice things up after you get good at the game. If you like adventure-ish themes this one is well worth a look.

Tales & Games: The Three Little Pigs has a yahtzee-ish style of play with the repeated dice rolling to get better house pieces.

Bright and colourful too, if that helps.

There are also several variants and house rules that work quite nicely that eliminate player elimination. Check the variants section

Zombie Dice is a very light , themed dice game. It is more of a press your luck type thing, but you are still trying to make sets of like symbols in a Yahtzee-ish way. Not sure if it falls into exactly the same category, but it is a very fun, light filler game that plays super fast and is easy enough to break out here and there to waste some time with.

I didn't like the player elimination of King of Tokyo, and Run, Fight, or Die! has replaced it for me. In that game, once someone is killed, it triggers the end of the game and the survivors add up their scores.

D-Day Dice, if you can find it. The game is no longer in production, but uses a very similar dice rolling mechanic.

This explains why the original post referred to "this game" and not King of Tokyo.

Lots of great suggestions, but if you are looking for the Yahtzee like flow, then Run Fight or Die is the go to game.

If you're looking for lots of colourful dice I'd add Steampunk Rally to the list. No down time as its simultaneos drafting followed by simultaneous movement.

And Rube Goldberg-esque machines.
