When bidding on a contract (using bidding cards and contracts/reputation), what happens to the contracts/reputations that were used when losing a bid? Do they go back to the players hand (like the case with the bid cards)? or does the player lose the contracts?

Same question as above but in the case that the player wins.

Thanks

Win or lose the Contract Card used to stake reputation is gone out of the game. No one will score points from it. Even if you are uncontested and the only player bidding on a neighborhood. That is why it is such a risky move.

I have seen many games and won and lost by staking reputation.
