I like the game flow in Expolanets: you try to reach your goals with small actions, while opponents deploy +X tokens on planets making your "workday as a god" a nightmare.

It plays smoothly and you reach a certain amount of control during the game. Of course, luck is involved, but it is manageable.
What I found a little "overpowered" is how the last turn is played, and how the very last player can get a huge boost:

+VP and -VP objective tokens are kept in hand up to the last turn, then, everyone throws the +VP under their best planets and the -VP on opponents' ones. Black holes and solar flare are no more a problem, because everyone already consumed everything.
The last player can get the best from this: placing "orbital" and "neighborhood" tokens (knowing that he has them, develops his planets according to them) we suffered even a +12 points hit (+9 for him and -3 for the former 1st player).

Did it happen to you as well? Are we missing something?

It could happen but it depands on space tiles which last player gather through all game.

Space add-on can help with such situation.
