Use these rules after normal setup is complete. As described below, one player offers a choice of starting positions, and the other decides between them.

First, the player holding the token places two of his tiles in empty squares, and then adds the token to one of these alternative offers. If desired, he may also remove a peg from the twelve around the playing area and add it to either offer.

The other player must now accept one of these offers by returning the associated tile to its owner, replacing it with the matching tile from his own set. He also claims any peg and/or token that comes with the accepted offer, while the offering player reclaims those of the unaccepted offer.

The claimed peg, if there is one, is scored on its new owner's end of the peg-chain. During play, the row or column from which it came is not scored.

The two tiles, one from each player, remain on the board in lieu of the standard first turn. All other rules remain unchanged.
