Yspahan has the seamless flow of Puerto Rico but it plays twice as fast (a consistent 45 minutes).

It is easy to teach like Ticket to Ride but offers more strategic choices: you need to choose if you're going to focus on buildings, the caravan or on raw goods. You also need to decide when to shift your focus. This makes it more interesting than Ticket to Ride (even Europe).

Also like Ticket to Ride, Yspahan can be enjoyed even after a mentally taxing work-day. Beside strategy, Yspahan offers sheer fun. It is a perfect family game (if your family is four people or fewer).

Like both of those games Yspahan has been a hit with everyone that I have ever introduced it to over the last four years. Unlike Tiket to Ride, Yspahan is not a game that more serious gamers will refuse to play.

As mentioned earlier, Yspahan can play at most four players – this places it in the elite company of other monstrously awesome games that play at most four players. Games like Ghost Stories, Samurai and Nexus Ops.

Yspahan uses dice beautifully. I've tried other popular dice games like Kingsburg. Compared to Yspahan, Kingsburg is dull.

Yspahan is like the Casino because it lets you gamble but unlike the Casino you can keep your money.

Yspahan is beautiful like all the games mentioned thus far. It looks like it plays – cheery and bright.

Yspahan offers tactile pleasure - the act of rolling and arranging the dice is a joy. The act of fiddling with the cute wooden camels is a lesser joy but a joy non-the-less.

Some say that Yspahan isn't the best two player game. They're right. The best two player games are Chess, Battleline, Hive, the GIPF project games, the Commands & Colors games, Summoner Wars and about 100 other games that are all not Yspahan. Yspahan is not a great two player game. It is just a great game.

Some people don't like the caravan. They don't think it fits in. The same people tend to think that it's too strong. If these people play a game where another player plays a Caravan-heavy strategy from the start while they completely ignore it, they will most likely lose. This is why they think that the Caravan is too strong. My father is one of these people. Yspahan is one of my father's favourite games.

I had an ex-girlfriend from Ysphahan. She is the reason I bought the game. The period of time that my ex-girlfriend and I were together is ten times shorter than the period of time that Yspahan and I have been together. Yspahan endures like Ghost Stories and Samurai.

Also like those two games, it does not require anyone at the table to know how to read.

Most casual gamers that I've played Yspahan with assume that it must be one of the definitive classics of modern family board-gaming – right up there with Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan. When I tell them that this is not the case, they are confused.

In this regard, it is like no other game I own.

I actually like Yspahan best as a 2-player game.

Yeah, its a pretty weird review, I know. I only wrote it because I felt it was important that people become more aware of the game. I'm afraid it may have been ineffective.

I enjoyed the review. It says a lot about what you feel while playing the game. I just got the game yesterday and have not played it yet.

Though my group loves Kingsburg and I adore Ticket to Ride and all its forms.

I have loved this game for a while, so much so that I have "print and played" the expansions for 5 players and the gardens.

Yesterday I taught it to my girlfriend, who is starting to get into boardgames ( her favourites are any Ticket to Ride Game, Railroad Tycoon, Quadropolis, Agricola and Puerto Rico!).

She accused me of hiding this game from her as it was too good to have been taught to her after other games!!! cool
