It all started with Ultron, humanity is unfit to live. They are too far gone. They have become a virus that must be wiped out. What is the best way to fight a virus? Send in a greater virus. With a great virus the AI made their attack sending mechanical replacements of the heroes and villains. The teams have been called in and sent out to put a stop to this deadly virus once and for all, but which team is strong enough to quell the robot uprising?

Can those heroes/heroines be from other sets than baseset + Secret Wars vol. 1? Just asking in case SW vol. 1 arrives for me this week and I might be able to join this.

Too much attack and too little recruit. We simply did not have enough recruit cards to purchase which meant we couldn't hit Nimrod nor be able to purchase wounds and return them to the stack.

Good won, 6 scheme twists and 4 master strikes later. The wife (CrimsonLithium) got the MM ttactic from Nimrod and kept guessing right on the top card of her deck so was able to hit him all 4 times in one turn

pitiful from me but fairly happy that we took it down in 22 turns

Good won!

Thanos helped pick up the necessary recruit points and black panthers rare card of gaining 3 sidekicks made this a quick game. I was also able to KO a good amount of my starter cards with dr strange, which again resulted In thinning, but strengthening my deck.

Went with the Spider-Friends for cheap recruiting and guaranteed synergy. Didn't matter what the plague made me recruit. Used Spider-Man for the extra recruit points versus Nimrod. Silk for some KO. Symbiote Spider-Man for the beatdown.

May try another team at some point : )

Golden Solo

Good won!

Team: Illuminati (Beast, Black Bolt, Black Panther, Doc Strange, Superior Iron Man)

Score: 53-18 (4 twists, 5 escapees, 1 bystander)=35 points

While I struggled to keep the city under control in the early game because I was ensuring I bought recruit cards, I steadily built momentum until in my final turn I managed to take out the last two of Nimrod's tactics and still have enough fight left over to empty the city.

Final deck:

Black Bolt
Speak No Words x3
Destructive Whisper x1

Doc Strange
Trust Me, I'm a Doctor x2

Black Panther
Catlike Reflexes x1
Multifaceted Genius x1 - this was great! Needed more of these...
Stalk the Urban Jungle x1

Beast
Doctor of Beatdown x2 - another fantastic card - a real workhorse in this deck.

Superior Iron Man
Armor Upgrades x2 - never failed to fire off! arrrh
Optimized Technology x1
Superior to Others x1 - never failed to fail... gulp

Shield Agent x5
Shield Trooper x1

Game Two (trying other teams)

Golden Solo
Evil Wins! Team: X-Force (Domino, Forge, Cable, Colossus, Wolverine)

Points 21 (Nimrod x3, Melter x1)-26 (7 twists, 5 escapees) = -5. Ouch

9 turns. That hurt - a lot.
The turn the Wound stack ran out, I had enough to beat Nimrod's final tactic. Sigh...

Final Deck:

Shield Agent x8
Shield Trooper x5 - some thinning would have been very welcome...

Wound X2

Forge
Overdrive x2
B.F.G. x1

Domino
Lucky Break x2
Ready for Anything x3
Specialized Ammunition x2
Against All Odds x1

Colossus
Draw Their Fire x1 - this one was a freebie from a Nimrod tactic - I wanted to avoid the Colossus cards because of their Wound gathering.

My strategy of stocking up on the Versatile cards seemed to be working, as I was really able to manipulate my resources to get that I needed in each turn. However, I think the lack of thinning really slowed me down and proved to be my undoing.

We took this opportunity to use the variant Secret Avengers team led by Phil Coulson. We were quite fortunate to have a Villains deck quite backloaded with Scheme Twists. Indeed, if the game had continued we would have had one more Colossus of Future Past followed by 5 Twists in a row!

So until this Challenge, I hadn't noticed that I didn't receive a copy of the Pan-Dimensional Plague Scheme when I got Secret Wars. I contacted UD and without question they sent me the Scheme. Here we are, a month later, and I'm finally able to partake!

---

Advanced Solo

Team 1 (Weird Avengers?): 'The Captain and the Devil', 'Lady Thor', and 'Ultron'

Game 1: Evil Wins.
This game was rough. I lost in 8 rounds, drawing 7 Twists, 2 Master Strikes and a Doom Bot for my first 10 cards of the Villain Deck. There was no chance here, but I feel a rematch...

Game 2: Good Wins!
81vp (pile) - 24vp (twists) - 0vp (villains) - 0vp (bystanders) = 57vp Total
This game went expectantly better. Ultron's tech cards were a saving grace from Nimrod and gave a bunch of VP with the Ultron villain cards! Lady Thor's recruit was key to overcoming the scheme. Cap+Devil were the least useful cards being that Ultron is all tech and Lady Thor is all Range/Melee.

5 player attempt.

Good won!

Team: Illuminati (Beast, Black Bolt, Black Panther, Captain Britain, Doc Strange, Superior Iron Man)

We had added Beast and Captain Britain from the Vol. 2 box to complete the Illuminati team. Captain Britain proved to be completely useless (other than KO'ing) in this set-up due to only benefiting from having different team members.
First draw of the game happened to be a Scheme Twist. Outlook of the scenario looked bleak, but managed to pull thru and win. Ended up drawing 6 Scheme Twists and 3 Master Strikes throughout the game.

I think I'm going to follow Ovi's example and try to do this with a bunch of different teams, partly to see how they handle it, and partly because I need an excuse to try some of the heroes I haven't played yet.

Everything played Golden Solo, as usual.

Game 1: Good wins! Final score: 57
Heroes (Avengers): Thor, Lady Thor, Captain Marvel

I probably could have won this sooner, but I'm so not used to Masterminds having less than 12-14 attack that I didn't realize I could've been fighting Nimrod a lot more than I was. Obviously this was kind of a silly setup (not one of these cards doesn't work well with any other one) but then, I just wanted to have some fun.

Game 2: Good wins! Final score: 49
Heroes (Cabal): Black Swan, Proxima Midnight, Namor, The Sub-Mariner

Proxima Midnight was definitely the MVP of this game. There were a ton of turns where I played one of her 2-cost cards (1 fight/1 recruit) followed by three or four copies of the card whose ability is dependent on what you played before it.

Also, I find it absolutely hilarious that Namor has a card called "Feed the Sharks" which involves you KO'ing a card from your hand.

Game 3: Good wins! Final score: 44
Heroes (Fantastic Four): Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing

I don't think I went through half the wound deck on this game, I just rolled through Nimrod so fast. Getting a ton of recruit power really helped me just burn through my starting deck with IW's Disappearing Act card, at which point I was drawing almost my whole deck every turn.

Game 4: Good wins! Final score: 41
Heroes (Guardians of the Galaxy): Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket Raccoon

Almost lost this won due to cockiness; I kept putting off fighting Nimrod to try and get more artifacts and victory points, then two twists in a row knocked me down to 5 left in the stack. Other than that, this was pretty much a cakewalk. Star-Lord is pretty much broken with all of his artifacts.

Game 5: Evil wins!
Heroes (Illuminati): Beast, Captain Britain, Superior Iron Man

Pretty much just a case of me needing to read the cards before I choose them. Captain Britain is about the worst hero you can get in this matchup since everyone has to be in the same team; at best I could have gotten two fight or money off of his cards if I happened to have a SHIELD character as well. As it was, I was basically stuck between buying virtually useless cards or trying to beat the scheme before the wound deck drained, and it didn't work.

Game 6: Evil wins!
Heroes (Marvel Knights): Shang-Chi, Dr. Punisher Soldier Supreme, Iron Fist

Another game that supports my theory that the Marvel Knights tend to be good individually, just not together. I feel like all three together were just getting in each other's way, in a sense, because none of them comboed off one another. Though I will say it was really nice that Punisher had a 2-cost card to work off of Iron Fist's various "different cost" effects.

Game 7: Good wins! Final score: 66
Cheated a little with the heroes here, because I actually have the Captain America expansion (which was not out at the time this was posted). Heroes chosen: Agent X-13, Elsa Bloodstone, Steve Rogers Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Unsurprisingly, these heroes work great together. Steve and X-13 play off one another really well, and Elsa helped to both thin the deck and get enough bystanders to trigger Savior. Once I had that down, it was all just a matter of time.

Round 2!

Game 8: Good wins! Final score: 61
Heroes (Spider-Friends): Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Silk

Again proving how ridiculous Spider-friends can be, after a point I was drawing my entire deck without any issue. The last turn I had gone through my entire deck and could buy a card then immediately draw it, and keep chaining it until I was out of money as long as I kept buying a card that drew into another one. All of it happened so quick that I only hit 2 twists and a single master strike before I beat Nimrod 4 times.

Game 9: Good wins! Final score: 34
Heroes (X-Force): Forge, Wolverine, Domino

I actually didn't get many points here just because I burned through Nimrod so fast. I was drawing through most of my deck every turn and KOing one SHIELD card per cycle with No Mercy (with even more getting lost to the Doombots), so it was pretty easy to build up huge stacks of cards to deal with villains and Nimrod. Domino was great here, her being able to count as either fight or recruit made it a lot easier to get to 6 so I could actually fight Nimrod.

Game 10: Good wins! Final score: 41
Heroes (X-Men): Magik, Soulsword Colossus, Emma Frost

A fitting end for my second round of games for this challenge. It was pretty much the same story as the last two, except that my heroes actually amounted to some decent fight when I drew through my entire deck. I basically got rid of my starting deck immediately using Colossus, at which point most of my deck allowed me to draw cards. On my last turn I produced 37 attack and played 11 sidekicks in total, the last three of which didn't actually draw any cards because I had my entire deck out and had spent all of my money already.

This challenge was a lot of fun. I really liked having the chance to try out some of the heroes that I just hadn't had a chance to get to the table yet, especially some of the stuff from Secret Wars. Can't wait to get to the next one!

Good won!
Marvel Knights: Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Moon Knight, Dr Punisher The Soldier Supreme, Shang-Chi
P1 45
P2 27
Won with 15 wounds still in the wound deck, Nimrod reigned invincible until I acquired Iron Fists rare, I'd whittled my deck down and my draw pile turned fast, and then I hit him twice in one hand, soon after I got Shang-Chi's rare too and Nimrod fell twice more using final blow to end the game, great combos left the city clear for the last part of the game.
Will definitely play again
