I was organizing my cards into the footlocker I recently received and noticed some differences on the card backs between locations, location markers and the regular action deck.

In this image if you compare the upper right corners you will see the Action Deck card (the one on the left) has some white dots on it. The location marker card (the one on the right) has the brightest white dot way up in the right corner. The dark line on the top right in what I call the "header" area is about 1/2 way in the header on the Action Deck card while the new location marker card has it right near the top.
The black line that holds the words "Action Deck" is more centred on the Action deck card and pushes all the way to the left on the new location marker card.

I noticed my Jungle cards and Middle East location cards are the same as the location markers. However my Eastern European location cards are the same as the Action Deck cards.

Does anyone else have the same issue?

I'll have to check my copy for that later, but maybe there are differences between the 1st and 2nd edition of the game?

Have you maybe mixed cards from the base game and the expansions and with that, mixed the two editions? The base game and the first 3 expansions exist in 1st and 2nd edition...

The top right corner white dot issue appers with my Action card Location card holder lacking as many obvious white dots.

In a post in the Cards if Cthulhu - DVG mentioned some of the difficulties they have had with previous printers.

There are some differences but they are not influence game play. There are too many cards to remember all cards backs and the differences are really hard to see especially if cards are sleeved.

Good thing this game is co-op and not competitive.

Just checked and I don't have the "issues" with the dots and different text alignments. Maybe very slight differences in the green background color in some of the Action Cards. Nothing too noticeable...

I only have the base game and expansions #1 and #3, both 2nd edition.

From a DVG post on TCoC

Printing an expansion that needs to be combined with a core game is always tricky. Card stock and printing color varies from printer to printer, and even when using the same printer. I have also seen times when it will vary within the print run.

Printing color is managed by the Pantone color guide, and they use it as a basis. But, it is much like how the same file's color will appear differently on different monitors. Printers have that same problem, but they also have to deal with real world temperature, humidity, etc.

All cardstock of a specified thickness should also be exactly that thickness in theory, but isn't in reality. The stock might be the tinniest bit thinner or thicker, and you can't tell when looking at one card. But, you stack 50 or 100 cards up, and the tiny difference shows.

We do our best to keep everything as consistent as possible, but it can be difficult at times.

Except you know if the next card in the Action Deck stack is a location card or not. So depending on if you need a location card or not you know whether or not to draw a card as an action.

As for sleeves, my buddy has his all sleeved and during one game he was easily able to say "next card is a location".

I'm thinking of investing in one of those casino style card dispensing boxes - not because of the backs of the card issue, but more that once sleeved the stack(s) have a habit of sliding apart especially when excitement kicks in. shake
