I have both this game and the Iron Age. I have not played the Iron Age but was wondering if I really need both or just pick 1

With iron swords, you can crush the wimps who only have bronze.

if you already have both, why do you still need to pick?

My guess is that you probably only need one[1]. Unfortunately, I think you'll have to play each one several times to decide for yourself which is the right one for you.

[1] Of course you don't NEED either, but I'll play along with your wording.

It's a subjective question, and since you already own both, why not simply play them yourself and see whether you yourself find owning both to be redundant or enjoyable?

I agree,
you might only need one.
Another point for consideration is the amount of additional material available for each game (like the late Bronze Age or the Ancient Empires expansions for the original RttA), as these can add considerable replayability and gameplay variability to the game.

You can fit both games in the Iron Age box if you ditch the insert.

Also, if you laminate 4 score sheets for each game (maybe w/ normal on one side and advanced on the other), and store the appropriate writing utensils instead, you can ditch the scorepads and everything will fit in the Iron Age box comfortably.
