I just finished glueing the models and damn they look amazing.
But I wanted to try something new with the bases. Normally I use sand and glue for my bases, but in this case it would look out of place. Being on those metal walkways.
So I ordered a "Steel Catwalk Grating-Texture Stamp" form Happy Seppuku: http://happyseppukumodelworks.bigcartel.com/product/steel-ca...

And here is my first experiment.

It went OK, not perfect but I think it will look nice when painted.
There is still some green stuff overhanging the base, so I will need to cut those parts off.

That's really cool. Was it fairly easy to use?

Yes, it was. I had zero previous experience with working with green stuff and it went fine. I did 10 bases in something like 30min.
The tricky part is getting the right ammount of green stuff on the base.
I measure the ammount of green stuff I cut using the cutting mat you can see in the pic as a reference. Then I cut away the center part of the green stuff where the blue and yellow parts connect.
If you don't cut the center out, you will end up with hard lumps in the green stuff ruining the base.
Once the green stuff is on the base you need to wet the stamp and green stuff, and then press the base on the stamp. Don't leave it on there, just pull it back off and you have a textured base.

Thanks.

Just finished the rest of the bases.

I had to use 3 different modelling putties: some older from army painter (darker green bases), then some new from Games Workshop (light green bases) and finally some milliput.
In the end I prefer the green stuff from army painter, it seems to hold the detail best. the one from GW was very sticky and "rubbery" causing the lines never to be fully straight. The millut is very messy to work with and a bit crumbly.
I had to use 3 different kind because this was what the shops where I live had in stock.

Once the putties are dry, I can clean up the edges of the bases and glue on the cultists.

Just finished the Teleport Homer and the Servo-Skull.

The bases and metal parts of the marines were basecoated with Leadbelcher.

Then I used Vallejo German Grey (a very dark grey) for the armor.

Finished a round a highlighting on the Deathwatch.

I might add some more highlights on them but for now I wanted to start on the Genestealer Cult models.

Here are some with a couple of basecoats done. I'll paint the cult models in three batches and grouped them by their base colors..

Current status of the Neophyte Hybrids:

Now I'm waiting on a bottle of Thunderhawk Blue, so I started basecoating the rest of the cult.
