Subject: The 'Left' Created Trump rss

Posted this in response to an analysis on abc news about the genesis of 'Trumpismo' today, but originally started writing it to post on RSP:

'Progressivism' created Trumpismo. What happened in Chicago on the 11th was not a reaction to Trump. It was the kind of Gestapo tactics the 'Left' has been consistently engaging in for decades now.

The unfortunate success of Trump's infantile behavior is nothing more than the nascent beginnings of a backlash against the totalitarian world 'progressives' have made of America.

The 'Left' has deliberately and completely snuffed out any possibility of the kind of civil discourse that was the norm in politics in America only a generation ago. How long has it been since it was possible for a political conservative to appear on a college campus without a mob violently shutting the event down? (Students dare not so much as whisper any thought that is even slightly 'politically incorrect' any more - not even off campus.)

How long has it been since it was possible to support a political initiative not approved by the PC Gestapo without having to worry about losing your job, being expelled from your chosen degree program, or even being physically assaulted? If you dare place a yard sign supporting the wrong cause you stand a good chance of having it stolen and/or seeing your house vandalized and/or having your home besieged by angry protesters spewing hateful profanities at your family. Who dares to put a bumper-sticker that is not 'PC' on their car any more?

How long did we think that free people would put up with all this? It is truly unfortunate that the backlash first became apparent in the form of something as pathetic as 'Trumpismo'. But it is utterly hypocritical for you fascist lefties to condemn Trump and his supporters. Trump is nothing more than a mirror that only faintly reflects your own image back at you.

Besides, the grown-ups are already on this. Republicans and other conservatives are the only ones who still have the moral standing to refute Trump anyway. And thank God they finally are putting him in his place. It was observed on another forum recently, "If America can’t have two political parties willing to stand up for freedom of expression, it must have one."

Trump is successful because of one simple reason: he is speaking what a lot of Americans have already been thinking.

I too, thought it was a joke at first, but then as I read further it's what he really believes. And that speaks to why Trump is a phenomenon.

Seems to me that it matters where you live with respect to all of this. It's pretty common to have crosses erected all over the place (some of them towering over the landscape), the Jesus fish on cars, conservative signage everywhere, etc. if you're in certain parts of the midwest or south. You are far more likely to have problems with liberal causes on your car. Count on being keyed. And even then, being assaulted? Let's be realistic about how often that stuff actually happens on either side of the aisle.

Yeah, I sorta got the feeling from the PC Gestapo reference that this was mostly just a rage post about PCness and not something thought out in terms of cause and effect.

I really probably should check my lefty privilege and realize that the right is oppressed more than any other people. I give up. They win the victim olympics.

So terrible that people now get blowback when they try to get away with racist and exclusionary behavior that was acceptable just a few decades ago.

I mean - in my Mom's day you could openly talk about keeping the Jews and Asians out of the good schools and in their place with quotas. Now if you even suggested a common sense solution like a quota for them, people are all up in arms.

Not even 40. I can travel one town over and still overhead people talking about fucking niggers and goddamn kikes (when they think none are present). Its easy to avoid racism when you get to decide to participate.

I live in St Louis. Racism is acceptable TODAY. I heard a guy rant about how those dark hoodlums from Ferguson just want everything handed to them, instead of working, like those of use of European descent, that believe in Lord Jesus. Because if you do well, it's because Jesus is helping you. We all owe all our success to our faith in Jesus.

The guy was also happy that around here, we have few of those "lazy mexicans".

And this was in the morning, at an eye doctor's waiting room. He talked as if his views were 100% acceptable.

The only sad part is that it took an ass like Trump to begin push back. I wish it had been someone better spoken and more trustworthy. But part of the frustration conservatives/classical liberals have feel for decades is that the Republican party is too wussy to push back and mostly unable to communicate classical liberalism properly.

Classical Liberals got drummed out of Republican party over the last 20 years as RINOS and the like. (Rockefeller Republicans etc...).

Electoral strategy of Republican party in quite a few recent elections was to focus its appeal on the grossly illiberal social conservatives while at the same time winking at the classical liberals and asking them 'well.. what else are you going to do... vote Democrat?'

That is not a failure to communicate - it is an attempt to appeal to two groups that have practically nothing in common with each other.
Eventually that gig was bound to blow up in their face.

Very soon, Republican Party will have to decide if it is party of economic probity, free trade, personal liberty and personal responsibility OR the political wing of the southern evangelicals with focus on such issues as gay marriage/rights, opposition to immigration, christian heritage, abortion and the general disgruntlement.

Uhm.. how do you ascertain the political orientation of bombs?

Current American commander in chief is from a progressive/liberal strand of American politics.

Or you are considering the Bashar Asad's bombs - deployed by the Arab Socialist Ba'ath party https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ba%27ath_Party

Or perhaps Worker's Party of Kurdistan which (probably) just blew up some 100 people in Ankara - which admittedly is not a village...

Unless you are pre-defining progressives as incapable of bombing places in which case your argument is circular.

I think assigning blame to one side or the other is probably foolhardy. The rise of Trump is a lot of factors.

That said, I thank you for your heroic martyrdom. When you're shot in the face and buried in a mass grave by the PC Gestapo, your sacrifice will be remembered.

Well congrats, Drew. I'm glad you grew up in Mayberry. Parts of my family are deeply racist - my uncle used to warn me (humorously, sigh) to watch for the darkies that might jump me on my short walk home. I was always disgusted by it, but everyone around them thought it was "funny".

Edit: And we are very similar ages.

I thought it sounded familiar. The whole "the SJW PC Liberal Gestapo created Trump!" idea must be making the rounds in the conservative echo chambers, and now they're all running over here to repeat it for us and pretend it was this amazingly clever "gotcha!" they came up with themselves.

Not only did the vile Left give rise to Trump by asking other folks to stop being bigots, but they presumably forced all of those innocent Republican voters to pull the lever for Trump in state after state. THAT'S HOW DEEP THIS GOES. Oh, they were going to vote for Rubio or something, but then they remembered that Facebook lets people choose from more than two gender options, so their hand was forced to vote for Trump. It was the only possible response.
