This is not a source I usually follow, but it does not look like a joke from ACD Distribution
http://acddistribution.blogspot.com/2016/03/new-from-games-w...

Here's the announcement with pic...

Street Date: June 17
GAWLP-60
Lost Patrol (English)
$60.00 SRP

Set in the dark far future, Lost Patrol is a dynamic two-player board game with a difference. A squad of elite Space Marine Scouts must battle their way through ever-changing jungle paths to a crashed vessel, hunted at every terrifying step by fearsome alien Genestealers.

Featuring stunning miniatures and ingenious gameplay in which the board itself evolves, it’s an utterly compelling and action-packed experience. Will any of the Imperium’s crack troops live to tell the tale? Only you can decide...

Miniatures are supplied unpainted and assembly may be required.

2 players
Ages 12+
30+ minute play time

Contains:
5 Space Marine Scouts
12 Genestealers
6 Infestations
30 Map tiles
3 Dice

*sigh* GW really wants all of my game budget this year...

Update Note: And it's already listed on GW's site at https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Lost-Patrol-EN, though not for sale yet. Shown as pre-orderable on June 11, 2016.

That's pretty cool. Never had this game. Vaguely remember it. Looks cool, and the hexes hopefully integrate with Calth for some crossover action.

And how's this for portable?

That's pretty rad.

I'd pick one up if it were priced reasonably.

Maybe now the original author will stop his moaning about the fan made versions.

This is a great little game. It is a perfect title for rolling out something at a lower price point, with minimal assembly, serving as a way to get boardgamers to try some 40K stuff. Whether that's how they will pitch it is another matter...

Reading through it again, I just caught the "12 genestealers, 6 infestations"

Hmmm..

This sounds like they're going to be fucking around with it.
Sometimes that makes a better game, most other times it's a way to charge more for more minis in the box.

Also, why they couldn't just leave the 'stealers out of it for once is beyond me. There are other threats in the galaxy. This is supposed to be a "terror world" with threats of its own.

Pretty disappointed on that front.

Oh well. I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

It's interesting.

Using miniatures instead of the token stacks would make the old, lose one-move one system more fiddly, and would necessitate larger map tiles than the original. Also, I am pretty sure the hard cap on aliens on the board was higher than 12 first time around.

Also, what are the "infestation" tokens? I don't recall any such thing in the original. Maybe they are going to use a sort of "blip" system?

Personally, I think a lower-level tyranid threat such as hormagaunts would work well for the setting and style of play (assuming the setting is going to be the same based on that artwork, which has vines and thorns).

Genestealers strike me as overpowered. I feel bad for the scouts.

It's never too early to start rampant premature speculation.

"Set in the dark far future..." Who is that aimed at? 40K'ers know this is the Grim Dark Future.

Is this a GW release? A boardgame with advanced notice and a specified release date? What the what?

A boardgame with only stock, off-the-shelf miniatures (not sure about Infestations)? For the record, around $75 worth of Scouts and Genestealers.

Box covers switch from moody Dark Angels to Emo Blood Angels. Both are experienced fighting Genestealers in boardgames. Dark Angel's Deathwing Terminators avenge the loss of their homeworld in the eponymous Space Hulk expansion. Blood Angels avenge the loss of almost their entire chapter in Space Hulk. Blood Angels know how to shed blood when fighting Genestealers.

Genestealers versus Scouts! What can possibly go right? Right?

There must be some fiddling with the game, ain't no way to fit three scouts and six genestealers into a current map tile.

Think (hope) this might be a sign of how things are going to happen due to the relaunch of the Specialist Games line.

That artwork though... the genestealers look like they are rocking out to a boy band.

All right GW let's make a cool amalgamation of Tyranid Attack/Advanced Space Crusade now, with an ever changing board, awesome doors, and models of organs!

Here's a different game description from a distributer:

Games Workshop is releasing a new version of the 2000 classic Lost Patrol with updated components and rules. It arrives in stores on June 17.
The new game is a two-player game with one side taking on the roles of Space Marine Scouts hunted by the other player controlling a group of fearsome alien Genestealers. Played out on a dynamic, tile-based board, the squad of Marines must navigate a jungle that moves and changes as they travel the board. The game has updated rules from the original 2000 game and is just as fast-paced as the original, playing in about 30 minutes.

Game Workshop's announcement of the new game makes it clear there are a few small differences from the original, designed by Jake Thornton (DreadBall, Mars Attacks: The Miniatures Game, Deadzone). The new version includes 5 Space Marine Scouts, 12 Genestealers, 6 Infestations, 30 Map tiles, 3 Dice, and the rules. The figures are unpainted and assembly may be required. MSRP is $60.00.

Yes! Lost Patrol was one of my favorite GW games of all times. Portable, quick setup/play time, interesting mechanics that work thematically with random terrain placement.

I hope they don't have to change too much to make it genestealer themed. I always enjoyed the option to backtrack in the game (the forest would shift and change when out of sight)...
