I am a big fan of boardgames that are over produced. Two games come to mind and I enjoy them both: Railways of the World and Sun Tzu.
Does anyone have any more recommendations?

The Gallerist

Of course, there is War of the Ring Collector's Edition, Puerto Rico (with two expansions), the Designer edition for Ogre.

Space Hulk (third edition)
Cthulhu Wars
Twilight Imperium (Third Edition)
Earth Reborn

I'm not sure I can say the last two are "overproduced", because that would imply there is more components in the box then there is game in the box, and that's just not true for TI:3 and Earth Reborn.

These may not be the greatest games...but you just asked for overproduced!

Several Fragor games.
Poseidon's Kingdom

Spellbound

Dragonscroll

A Game of Gnomes

For non Lamonts:
Master Thieves

So many miniatures game...but extra mention to:
Dreadfleet

(yes, the sea mat is part of the game)

And it was already said, but Cthulhu Wars is so awesome in so many ways its worth listing twice.

How is space hulk overproduced? It comes with miniatures, some tokens, a few dice and map boards. And a sand timer hourglass… I guess that’s pushing it over the edge? I mean GW is a miniatures/hobby company as they themselves state, and the minis in the game are usable in their other games so there is more justification than most other companies can claim.

Abyss is a good game, and while it doesn't have 8 foot tall miniatures, it's definitely more produced than a push your luck card game typically is. I mean, pearls for currency? I'm awaiting the deluxe edition with actual pearls ...and actual fish deities right in the box.

Calling Space Hulk pieces just "miniatures" and "map boards" is doing it a disservice.

I think its the engraved/embossed tiles that really push it over the edge.

Both Tokaido Collector's Edition and Cleopatra and the Society of Architects would fall into this category. Light family games with a ton of unneccesary plastic. That being said, I own and plan on keeping both, so maybe I'm the moron?

Moron? I pretty much interpret "overproduced" as "ooh, cool!"

Several?! I'd say all their games qualify. But I think Fragor is hors-concours.

A game from last year that I found overproduced was Ophir. It is not so impressive, but I think it would work better as a small-box game with simpler and cheaper components. It comes with a board divided into three areas and very thick tiles that form a 3D temple. But the board isn't really necessary and its central area could be replaced by seven hex tiles (the other two parts aren't needed at all). The temple pieces are just bling and all the relevant info could easily be put on cards.

Yup, Cthulhu Wars was the first game that came to my mind.
Also: Kingdom Death: Monster

Honorable mention: Rex: Final Days of an Empire - for the most overproduced start player marker!

The thing you are thinking about is the bombardment marker... though the start player marker is also much bigger than it needed to be.

You're right.

For the sake of comparison, here's the bombardment 'marker':

and here's the start player marker (being put to good use):
