With all these movie threads I don't think we've seen this topic. What's the "best" movie that you have never seen? Either in your judgement, or referring to a list like the IMBD top 250.

My Movies:

IMDB - I've never seen #5 Schindler's List. While very well regarding it never struck me as the kind of movie that I'd enjoy.

My Own Choice - I'm actually embarrassed that I've never seen Dr. Strangelove. I love most Kubrick movies. I love Peter Sellers. I love dark comedy. It's an important film with a great reputation that I'd probably enjoy ... I just haven't gotten around to seeing it.

IMDB: #21: City of God
I've been meaning to see this one for years, just never got around to it.

My Own Choice: Citizen Kane
For the same reason as City of God. Also, some asshole spoiled it for me. It's only been out for 75 years. Some people just can't keep their mouths shut.

I am proud to have opposed those who describe all who oppose them as "Tender Flowers" and "Special Snowflakes".

According to IMDb, #35, Charlie Chaplin's City Lights. I've seen a little of his stuff, and it's just not my thing. Hotel Rwanda might be the movie I expect to regard most highly when I watch it, but haven't yet. My wife is rarely in the mood for such things, but I don't want to watch it without her.

One of the most thought inducing movies I've ever seen. See it for sure!

IMDB: 103. A Separation (2011). Foreign film I've not heard of.

My own choice is pretty hard. Except for a few gems that have come out recently, I'm not sure of any movie I haven't seen that I should. I've seen a LOT of frickin' movies.

That didn't take long. #2, The Godfather. I was too young to see it when it came out and have just never gotten around to it.

I dont think I've seen The Godfather - I like the theme, but from memory I just couldnt get into it. I probably should try again someday.

Definitely never seen Schindlers List - its not something I feel like I would enjoy.

OK, just out of the top 100, I have not seen:
2,3,4,5,7,9,10,14,16,19,21-26,28,29,33-35,37,38,39,42,43,45,49,52,54-60,62,63,65-72,74-76,78-81,83-85,90-92, and 95-100.

I guess I have very different tastes than a lot of people. Or I'm a Philistine when it comes to art. Whatever.

By the list it would be #7 Pulp Fiction. I might one day watch it but it simply doesn't interest me. I've yet to see a Tarantino film I have liked. Another on the list is #10 Fight Club. Again not a film I am interested in.

Someone once here in chit chit asked about our "favorite film" and then when they asked the question again later phrased it as "greatest film". To me there was a distinction. Schindlers List in my mind is the greatest film ever made. I think people in 200 years will watch that movie. It is not my favorite film however as for me favorite is a movie I will always enjoy re-watching. I have seen Schindlers List twice and I think it is doubtful I will ever see it again because of it's subject matter and because it is so good. I think everyone should see it but at the same time I understand why many don't. It is not your ordinary movie by any means.

Forrest Gump and then The Professional are the two highest ranked movies I haven't seen. Both are from 1994...I guess I was busy doing something else.

On a side note, looking at the list, it kind of looks like "There Will Be Blood" stole their poster idea from PanzerBlitz, but maybe it's just me...

#6 - 12 Angry Men. It's the sort of film you tick off as having seen - Henry Fonda, a Jury, yadda, yadda but when you think about it catching a few snippets of it on daytime TV is not the same as having watched it. Next in the list is Inception - can't really remember that coming out.

That's #37, and I'm very surprised to have gone that far. I saw Inception for the first time a few weeks ago.

Really hard to say.

I am thinking the man who would be King, but then that might well change after I watch one of the other films in my top 10.

#14 Inception.

I've actually tried to watch it, but twice I've started it up and fell asleep so I've accepted that it just isn't my thing.

I haven't seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies, or Forrest Gump, or Inception. As far as classics go, the biggest hole in my list is still The Sound of Music.

I'm stunned that so many people haven't seen The Godfather — not in a "look at these philistines" way, but just because this used to be so huge in the canon. Funny how times change.

It's really good. I'm not sure it's a movie I would watch twice, but it definitely deserves its reputation.

Of the top 50 on the IMDB list, I haven't seen 20. The top that I haven't seen is Godfather II. The top I haven't seen, but actively want to, is 12 Angry Men, followed by Casablanca (definitely one I "should" see.)

I won a nice DVD release of Cinema Paradiso about eight years ago. Still unopened.

I haven't watched 44 movies of the top 250.
Unwatched yet in top 100

26 Life Is Beautiful
42 The Pianist
56 Nuovo Cinema Paradiso
60 Grave of the Fireflies
78 Requiem for a Dream

Grave of the Fireflies & Requiem for a Dream are on my hard drive, but I haven't felt in the mood to watch them yet. Seem to be more depressing than uplifting.
