SO I've been interested in this game for a while, but there has been very little on the Geek in terms of good session reports or reviews.

I'm a huge tall ship, exploration, and colonization game fan.

After seeing the little minis on the ads last week, I decided to finally download the rules and have a peak.

First the rules look better than most recently released games.

I must say its a very good design, and I had been working on somthing similar called Old World, New World. Your deisgn is much more efficent, and this game seems to strike a very nice balance between game play, time, and "flavor" of the period.

It feels like mix of a little bit of Caylus in terms of role selection, and alot like PR or San Juan in terms of capital buildings, etc. The decisions look "delicious".

QUESTION
I read that you have to keep track of VP on paper? For 47$!!! you don't get a nice simple, cardboard VP track?

Otherwise it looks like a must purchase for a empire building/euro/waro/exploration addict.
I think it will fit nicely into our group as well.
Well done!

Knowing the geek my guess is someone will make a nice VP track and upload it for us here.

Thanks to feedback on the geek, I added a scoring track last week! It will be around the edge of the board.

You can see it (barely) if you look at the recently uploaded back of the box (an image on the AoE III page).

Great. I'm excited to play it. My group has a Tuesday night theme night and I'm just dying to do an exploration/colonization night, but I need your game and Conquest of Paradise to really host it! Hopefully both will arrive in the same month.

Try and post some more good session reports. It grabs people's attention and gives a really good feel for the game if done well.

Rules question: What is the significance of the trade good pictures on the board? Is it just for decoration, or does it have rules significance?

The first player to have three colonists or specialists in that region gets a free trade good (the one pictured).
