Ok, so what's the best game you have played this year?

To keep things simple, what's the best game that you have either or both:

1) Played this year that was released this year.

or

2) Played for the first time this year (but was released in any year).

EG:

1) Star Wars Rebellion
2) Formula D (Edit, na lets make this Pandemic Legacy)

1)I have played 2 2016's, castles the card game and quadropolis. I'm not sure I'd consider either the best at anything, or even recommend them.

2) The Gallerist

1. Scoville (second edition says it's released this year. Does that count? Otherwise Circus Flohcati (new edition). So maybe that still doesn't count? Good thing I'm not a registered member of CotN.

2. Caverna: The Cave Farmers/Targi/At the Gates of Loyang?

1) Star Wars Rebellion -- Now my #2 of all time and don't see that changing anytime soon. An excellent dudes on a map game.

2) Russian Railroads -- Picked this up in a math trade in January and it quickly rose into my top 10. A wonderful worker placement/engine building game.

1) Tin Goose - I've played it 8 times and like it more and more with each playing.

2) Evolution - I was introduced to the game at PrezCon by a friend, and I immediately got my own copy (and later added Evolution: Flight). We introduced it to our game group, and at least two members have since obtained their own copies.

This might be the first year I can actually answer this question!

1) ICECOOL - Sure it's a flicking game but those penguins are very tactile!

2) Paperback - Really interesting deck-building word game.

Only played one game from 2016 so far so it is my favorite by default and that is Valeria: Card Kingdoms. I suspect that I will like something else better though.

Favorite new to me game this year though would be Orléans.

2: Olympos (was just re-released)

Very much looking forward to Mare Nostrum Empires. Blood Rage was also very good.

1.) ? Hmmm, tough one... Probably Guilds of London
2.) A very easy one, The Voyages of Marco Polo. If this had come out this year, #1 would have been really easy too

1. Only played two 2016 games, Android Mainframe and Automobiles. Enjoyed both, slight edge perhaps to Android for fitting a pretty nice niche for my group.

2. Toughie since I've played a lot of games for the first time this year. Gold West or Kingsburg methinks.
