These are our thoughts, and we'd like some feedback.

Missionary:

Once
per turn, as an action, the Missionary can remove 1 block from the city he is currently in and all CONNECTING cities.

Grad Student:

(Based on the fact that grad students do a lot of research that can breakthrough in their field, or cause a drawback)

EACH turn after the grad student has completed his 4 actions, he must roll a dice to determine the following: If the player rolls a 1,3 or 5, you must place one disease cube on the current city (one for each color if there are multiple colors on the current city). If the player rolls a 2,4 or 6 the player may draw 3 cards from the player discard pile.

The Grad Student may hold up to 8 cards.

Hi,

First a disclaimer: I love the game. Played it above the 200 times or more. I have the original box and the on the brink expansion and a bunch of print-and-play stuff from artcow.

Let's take your Missionary: Potentially the character can be a power house. In an all infested situation he might heal 5 cubes in one turn, quite good. However, my guess is that almost always it will heal from 1 to 3, no more. Quite good. But compare it with the Medic, which can heal 3 cubes in a normal infested situation (it is more probable that a city has 3 cubes, that there are cubes in all cities connected to a city, in a common situation). In addition, the medic has the power to heal immediately if a cure is found. One-to-One the healer beats the missionary any day of the week, in my opinion. Let's compare it to the Containment Specialist(One of my least favorite Role, btw). Potentially the CS will cure 4 cubes (four actions), but it is very situational (there needs to be at least 2 cubes in each city). I would pick the Missionary instead. In conclusion. Not a bad Role, but not a power player.

Second, the Grad Student. The Grad student on one hand negates an action (if you previously cleaned a city), on the other it provides you with 3 used cards. The negative is very low (meanwhile you do not finish in a 3 cube city, or a 2 that has not been drawn, very situational which can be mitigated), getting 3 cards from the discard seems very broken, almost to the point on where he alone can find all the cures with little help. Compared to the Archivist, which also takes from the discard pile, it seems to be also overpowered. For the Archivist (one of my favorite Roles) you need to be in the city to pick up the card, that tends to mitigate the role a little. So Concussion: too broken.

Typo on my part.

The grad student would be able to pick up 3 cards from the player deck NOT the discard pile. (leaving chance for epidemics).

The new roles aren't meant to be power houses. We are hoping to have a balance between good/bad.

Appreciate the feedback though! And I agree, Pandemic is a lot of fun, we have played many of times. Have OTB expansion but not the others (yet)

You can edit your original post.

I think drawing from the playerdeck is a bit too negative - the deck is a timer, so your essentially burning through more cards and ending teh game quicker.
